s2000 vs 135i

ok two cars i really like. the s2000 and the new bmw 135i. ok so, heres my situation, i was crusing around with my frend and i saw a very very clean white s2000 at the honda dealership, so i go inside and check it out. it is a 2003 s2000 with around 40 000 miles on it and going for $19,000 so heres my thing, if i only spend $19,000 subtract that by how much a 135i cost $39000 ~ $45000 is

20,000 left subtract that by 8000 for the super charger
- 8,000
---------
12,000 ..... so i have 12,000 to spend on the s2000 and have the equal amount of performance, maybe better than the 135i

240 HP, the V-tech, and with around $8000 i could get it up to around 290~320 hp safely w/ supercharger, and has great handeling. etc

[ 135i ]

300 hp, twin turbo, probably get the hp up to 350~370hp with just minor bolt on parts, heavyer than the s2000, but still carries 4 people (uncomfortably) i never se the back seat anyways

which one would you choose the s2000 is in PERFECT condition

If you want some GT character, go 135. if you want the most hardcore of the two and spend some time in the track, then S2k. I would keep it NA though.

The 135 is more practical if its going to be your daily driver. A real fun kick ass daily driver. The S2000 with only 2 seats, tiny trunk and all would be good if u have another car on the side and devote the S2000 to track and weekend fun.

mmm i c... i guess with that 10,000+ dollas i guess ill buy meself a daily driver.. an old school GTI maybe or a old school bmw? hmmm or a civic and put on some fart cans and annoy you guys ^___^ anyways i already have a scion xb so i guess that will do?

hehe thanks for the advise but iv been in a s2000 more than my own car hehe... love the ride but you are right, the s2000 is not too much of a practical car. i just dont know how my frends use it as a daily driver. hell my frends use miata as a daily driver and use for track... i shld ask them huh? hehe

"dude!! thats why they have hard tops so you can put on a roof rack for ur skis and ur snowboards, bikes, etc. or they also have the trunk rack and trunk basket big enought for almost anything, so i guess i dont need a trunk afterall, and for the back seats.... NOONE sits on my back seats! NOONE!! i tell everyone "drive ur own goddamn car over to the movies ill meet u there =}

After 3 years of driving an S2K as a daily driver, I can not wait to get in to my 135i.

I've owned my 04 s2k for about 4years. I put 78,000 miles on it with ZERO issues. It is still going to be incredibly difficult to part with it. Its my only car. I'm about 5'9 160lbs. -Sigh- Damn you Honda.

I have to warn you though, modding the s2k at the levels your thinking wont put it too far from a stock 135i.

You only live once! I would find a 04 though. I'm biased ofcourse.

It has been an amazing car in so many ways but 4000 RPM for 75 mph gets tired after an hour or so.

Yeah all those money numbers work out, if you plan on paying in full for the 135i.


Anyways, get the S2000 drive it for a couple of years. Then get a 135i once they have depreciated a bit.

I loved my S2K, but the very small size and lack of a back seat were two of the biggest factors pushing me to get a bigger car.

As for mods, a well done SC S2K would probably be pretty close to a chip-only 135i, and a 1'er with full boltons (~400rwhp) would be faster than all but the most heavily modified FI S2Ks.

mm i agree with slick one, maybe ill get a s2000 first and drive it for a couple of years, then get a 135i when price of it drops, because i was thinking and $45 000 for a ONE series, is a little too with that amount of money i would rather get a hatchback ///M z4 used one. well see i guess i do like a 2 seat sports car, but the problem is i am 6.1' ft tall, i drove a s2000 many times before and it was ok, but it wasnt my daily driver, mmm ill see what happens

if honda made a hardop rwd stickshift car that could hit 0-60 in 4.7 i would buy it in a heartbeat over the 1er. I almost got an s2K but for me it was the roof (and the lack of power) that made the decision (i know they have hardtops, but then ther's weight issues, cost, etc.)

In three years my 2009 135i will have around 35-40,000 miles. Your S2000 will have 75-80,000, without a warranty.
How about that feeling of driving a brand new car? It really does not matter how good of condition it's in, it's still used.

Whats your point about the mileage? I have 78,000 on my s2k. I owned it since it was new. No issues. I can tell your not very familiar with s2000's or Hondas in general being that you live in Germany. How does it not matter about the condition? A high percentage of s2000's are ''garage queens.'' In fact I have a friend selling a 2003 with 22,000 miles on it. Shoot me a PM if your interested Turbo.

Do you plan on running yours past 150,00 miles. Yes, I have owned several rice burners before. No thanks,I'll stick with the 135i. Besides, I save $4,000 via military sales and no sales tax stateside when my deployment is over.

I've had half a dozen BMW's and Hondas in my family. I believe the question is, do you plan on running your 135i past 150,000miles? As of today, I've thought about running my car into the ground. BMW's are so damn expensive out of warranty. Dont get me wrong, I'm not saying buy the s2k over the 135i indefinitely. All I'm saying is experience it for a little while and move on. I hope this isnt your first BMW.
