VPC

How long has VPC been taking everyone. I'm hoping that my car will be on the Independence to get into NY on 4/1. Any chance I will be able to pick it up at the dealer in Connecticut on 4/5, or is that wishful thinking?

I think that is possible. GregW got his within 4 days of it landing in CA, and he is in OR.

Mine lands in NY on the 24th. I am hoping to pick it up on the 28th or the 29th.

4 days is great. But i heard it can be anywhere from a few days to 3 weeks. I guess it depends how many cars they have to prep before yours...

Given the state of the economy and consumer sentiment, I have a hard time seeing a whole lot of cars in front of ours.

We are the only idiots/fanatics buying cars at or close to MSRP during a recession! We just couldn't wait for another 3-4 months.

Good chance, but not guaranteed. Priority One (customer) cars get preference. As mentioned in other posts, my car was out of VPC within 24 hours of entering and in my hands 900 miles away 4 days after docking.

i was told about 7 to 10 days including transport after VPC. So my car arrives in CA on 4.5, hoping by 4.12 i should have it.

Also, my CA stated they can see the car go through the steps at VPC and can confirm the auto being loaded onto the trucks. From that point on it should be easy to track.

Greg- Please share for us how we can convince our dealer's to issue Priority one as well. Seems you have some nice CA's up in Oregon

If your name is attached to the car/order, then it is treated as "Customer Sold" which is Priority 1. Look at your VIR report. If you don't have one, ask your dealer. It says Priority 1 on mine.

No way, thanks! Mine actually does say that with my name next to it.

Wouldn't that mean that all of us that pre-ordered/configured our cars have a Priority one status then?

Thank you....

Yep. I guess one other category is dealer ordered/owned cars that are purchased to sit in the showroom or on the lot. Our cars have priority over those. There probably aren't many M3s in that category, but when you think of the whole BMW lineup, there must be many cars like that coming through.

You'll have a blast driving this thing up and down Highway 1 by the way. I miss my days blasting around the twisties down 84 onto 1 during the week off-rush hour. I envy you. I haven't found such cool roads around here since I moved here...

Highway 1 and the Marin back roads are like my private track.....grew up driving on those roads to Mt. Tam & Stinson beach. Very nice to clear the mind at times.

Whats a VIR report?

Also is it weird that i don't have a order sheet or anything? The only thing i have right now is the order sheet that i got when i placed my deposit. Should i ask him to email me one now or just wait until the car comes?

I believe Vehicle Inquiry Report? I requested the VIR when I placed my deposit to show proof that my order was placed and to see the production number; and another a month later when i changed a few options. What does your deposit sheet have on it?

The Vehicle Inquiry Report is something the dealer can get through his DCS. I'd ask him to send or fax you the whole thing. It has your options, milestone dates, etc.

When they placed my ordered, the pricing info on the VIR was all "BLOCKED" although BMW had released the numbers. Not sure about what it would show now. Ask for it. The order sheet is a paper based thing. The VIR will show the exact specs for your car that BMW used to build it.
