Yeah, this is my bad. The Bavsound site is a bit confusing in that it shows those as different options. I guess they have to do this since there was a broader range of audio systems outside North America.

Just installed the subwoofers. Installation was a breeze. As stated, you don't need to take out the enclosure. Just remove the 4 torx screws. I do recommend putting the included sealant stripping around the inside of the enclosure before putting in the new speaker.

There is a definite improvement in the mid-bass. As Bavsound even states, these are not going to replace a 10" or 12" sub box in the trunk, but the bass hits a lot harder. Haven't driven around yet to hear different types of music, but I'm sure they'll get even better.

The other positive is once you remove the 4 bolts from the seats, you can get a vacuum in there for all the stuff that's hard to reach!

Bottom line. I think it's worth the upgrade. Especially, at the price I got them for.

like haywood said... don't expect trunk subwoofer bass but these are going to sound significantly better then the OEM speakers. Huge improvement in mid-bass and clarity. And if you don't like them they have the 30 day return policy.

Just installed a set last weekend. They really enhance the sound of the system. What I noticed is that the mid-bass is what was really missing. I don't need big, deep thumping bass anyway so this is a good compromise. Didn't change settings on anything and it just sounds so much better right off the bat.

One installation note. The torx screws that hold the woofers in are really puny and even though I was only using a screwdriver torx, I managed to twist the head off one of them. If that happens to you stop and pull out the housing. I thought, "well I'll just put some silicone sealer on that corner but, no surprise the woofers really do move and I have a vibration on that side at moderate volume and with some announcers (deeper voices). So this next weekend taking out that side housing and removing what is left of the stud or drill a new hole and screw it down if I can't get the old one out.

Ouch. So it was seized up, or did you just apply way too much torque?

Too much torque. Plus it was one of the screws closest to the seat so I didn't have that much room to turn it anyway, but all the threads on that side were a bit firmer than the driver's side and I wanted to make sure it was properly seated. Oh well, live and learn.

I'd like to know if anyone has installed the full speaker replacement system? Has to be better than stock, but for $800, you're now getting close to separates with a new amp.

Can you post a link to the system you are referring to?

I just installed my 8ohm ghost subs into my individual audio setup (752). I followed the instructions above but ended up putting the weather strip around the enclosure itself rather than on the back of the speaker but I doubt that should make a difference. Plugged them in and watch/heard/felt both cones moving before reassembly.

My verdict... worse than OEM. :

My bass seems to have virtually disappeared. I know someone said that they take time to break in but I was expecting more rather less from day one.

I've emailed Bavsound for advice so will let you know what they have to say...

That's odd, something is not right. My bass was better right off the bat. I did have a warranty issue, however, the passenger side either magnet or cone (the round thing at the top) was just a touch loose (I don't know why I installed it, maybe I was hoping it wouldn't make noise) and rattles with voices and deep base. Replacement on the way from BavSound. Customer service seems to be pretty good.

Yeah, something is not hooked up right or they're defective.

Break-in is very slight on speakers. It's not going to be night and day.

How do you have your EQ and audio settings configured? Are you sure the polarity is correct? If it's reversed, that would cause the woofers to be pushing out when they should be moving downward (gives poor SQ).

From what I could tell there's only one way the plug fits into the socket so unless the Euro cars are wired differently some the US ones I don't see how the polarity is wrong. I assume these subs need to be fully sealed (hence the weather strip)... Could this issue be cause by a gap in the weather seal at all?

I would think that any gap would reduce the amount of pressurization the sub can generate and hence the output, yes.

Well that's my first troubleshooting activity I think. Surely the wiring harness means it can't be the polarity?

Unless Euro cars are wired backwards, then I don't see it being polarity. The whole point of those connectors is that they prevent stupid mistakes like that.

Call BSW and see if they have any ideas.

That's weird. I can feel the bass resonating through the seat, never felt that before with the OEM. Depending on the music, sometimes I have to turn down the eq settings cuz there's too much bass coming from the ghost woofers.

Are you using those "flat" settings that are pinned in this forum? It gives fairly neutral response to my ears.

I played with the EQ but it didn't change much. Got a response from Bavsound support and they reckon is totally normal for them to sound this quiet and that there's a 10 hour break in period... But no one on this forum has mentioned the initial quietness so now I'm totally confused! :

I'm going to pull them out tonight and check the weather strip to be 100% sure there's no gap... after that though it looks like I might just have to wait!
