Leaving for PCD in the morning

It's so close to being here I can almost reach out and touch it.

After a total of 151 days of waiting, and 7 days of being teased in Germany, I just have 1 more day to wait until I pick up my M3 in South Carolina.

It's been a heck of an experience so far and I just can't wait any longer to have my car!!

The first moment I saw her 5/21:

The last time I saw her 5/27:

Congrats. I know PCD can delay redelivery, but 2 months? Was the car damaged or is there some other reason for what seems like a longer-than-normal timeframe?

It doesnt have to be damaged to be delayed. It is really luck of a draw once you drop it off in Germany. If you drop off on Friday, the car might not go anywhere until Monday because of some regulations. Once it gets to the port, it all depends on boats: if there is one about to sail - your car will be here quicker; if it misses a boat and has to wait for another - it takes a lot of cars to fill the boat. Travel across Atlantic itself isnt very long. Customs may take anywhere between 1 day and 1 month. There is no way to influence them or expedite the process at that point. So, 2 months is actually right on: shipping company tells you the same thing.

Congrats OP!!! I dropped off mine last Friday in Munich.

Thanks...I'm well aware of the hit-or-miss scheduling issues that accompany ED (my M3 took 12 days from dropoff until it was loaded on a ship). I'm simply saying that 10 weeks from dropoff to PCD seems like it's considerably longer than normal. Maybe it's just me?

Yes 10 weeks seams like an eternity ... I wonder if he tracked the shipment at the BMW site, if he did he would be able to tell where the delay was and find out from the Sales Man/Manager why it took so long?

Cars do get damaged in transit ... and yes often they don't tell us what got damaged. Just my 2 cents here. So checking into it is advisable.

The PCD has been swamped by appointments for the last 3 months or so. That could have been the culprit in this particular 10-weeks delivery case. A friend of mine got his ED M3 delivered at the PCD in about 6 weeks after dropoff, but that was after requesting the barebones, quickie PCD (no fancy presentations, just pick up and go).

That's the reason that I will be skipping PCD with my ED, I just cannot wait even an extra week of delay due to work.

Hey guys, I don't think the car was damaged in transit as I was offered the 8/5 pickup day immediately after dropping the car off in Munich.

I think I just missed a boat based on my drop off, then the boat I made it onto made every stop, Germany Sweden, Belgium, Southampton, Halifax, new York, SC, georgia.

Another M3 that was on the same boat as me has the same PCD date.

I look at it like this, I got lucky with my ED date, someone cancelled so I got that a couple of weeks before I should have (and I got a Saturday). Then I got a little unlucky with the wait for PCD, but I still got a Friday. So it all evens out in the end.

After tomorrow the wait won't matter anymore.

Noooo flight is delayed due to a servicing issue. That feels like one of those that gets flights cancelled.

I have about 3 hours until it's too late to rent a car and drive.

Well we didn't get cancelled. We departed 6.5 hours late and got into GSP at around 10:30.

Unfortunately that was too late for the BMW provided dinner but we did get something to eat at the bar.

The day was great, BMW proved again that they know how to make you feel special. I had a great time meeting another M3Post member during our day there.

We arrived back in Milwaukee earlier today after 930 miles of driving the car home. This whole process has been unbelievable. I bought from Ryan at Steve Thomas, taking ED and Performance center redelivery. Honestly I couldn't be happier.

I took a bunch of pictures and have grand plans to do one of those epic writeups over the next few days, but we'll see if I actually get to it.

Congrats on the car and having the patience to wait for it to arrive. Looking forward to your epic write up!

I'm Milwaukee fairly often for work, so maybe I'll see you in your new E92 as I buzz around in a rented Corolla!
