Guess now it's okay to expose her to bright light?

But now I have another theory! My car isn't my daily driver so it's at home when I'm not. And my wife always uses the power button when she drives the car. Hmmm....I think I may have found my "gremlin".

I really don't care if she drives it and she's under no obligation to tell me, so I bet she's driving it from time to time. That may not explain what some others are seeing, but it probably explains my situation.

Meh, I'm not going to worry about it.
So you are saying that your wife uses the Power button much more than you do??

You are a Pussy.

It's not the key....the power button is not a function that is available in the user preferences, here is what the manual says:

I have the same issue and have been wondering about this as well.

I almost never user the Power Button because I don't find it that useful. Car is more twitchy. So it is annoying that it comes on randomly on start-up. I would say, it comes on probably once every 10/15 starts.

Like others have said. Not a big deal but a bit annoying.

Yes it is man, at least with '08 iDrive. You have the option of 'power' on or off, and 'EDC' on sport, normal, or comfort. I always have power ON, so activated that setting. And no, that's NOT the 'M' setting, as that one also has the 'power plus' option, plus many more, like MDM, etc. By the way, it's in the same sub-menu that 'M settings' is, but forgot what's called. I can look it up if somebody wants. Good day.

Yeah, I know, I forgot..... I should have thought about the fact that BMW has 2 different manuals. A with iDrive and a without iDrive Manual. My manual makes no mention of the sport setting in the key memory. You iDrive guys do have that option. This is what your manual says:

Name: Mkey.JPG
Views: 129
Size: 7.3 KB

So guys without iDrive that have this problem, it is not the key. Guys with iDrive, it might be the key, but as some have mentioned in previous posts, they are using the same key and it is occuring intermitently, so sounds like something else is causing it.

Question Am I hallucinating?

I swear that sometimes when I start my car, the "power" button light is on, but I never turn it on.

Has anyone else experienced this? Either there is a bug in the electronics, or I should stop having LSD with breakfast.

If nobody else has ever had this happen I'll be really surprised. It happens at least 1-2 times a week

Do you always use the same key fob? Isnt that one of the settings that can be linked to the fob at start up?

There's more instant gratification to starting your own thread, wouldn't you say?

Just so you know, I merged these related threads. Didn't think it would be that confusing.
