Radar setups

Ok, this is not a V1 vs passport thread at all.

I was just wondering if you guys could post up your setups of your radar detectors.

I want to get sort of a concealed set-up but I suck at hard wiring, looked for a shop that would do it but couldn't.

So hopefully you guys can show a set-up I can base mine off of.

I too suck at hard wiring, but wanted hidden wiring. So I tucked a long cable under the headliner to the passenger door, around the door frame, down under the passenger seat, to the center console power outlet. The only wiring showing is one vertical line travelling up the passenger side of the centre console, parallel to the seat back. Of course, I can't see it from the driver's seat.

I have a V1, so a long phone cable is easily obtainable. To me, this was a very suitable solution without testing my non-existent wiring and fuse tapping skills. Hope that helps.

Thanks a lot, this was what I was looking for. Did you need to buy any additional wires to the one Valentine provided you with? If so which ones?

Thanks a lot.

No problems. V1s run on conventional phone cable. I forget the length required... measure it out, and run out to Home Depot or Radio Shack to purchase the necessary length - don't worry, extra length just stays under the passenger seat. Test the cable with the V1 before running it - I had some difficulty with one cable and had to return it.

I used this: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...light=hardwire and wire the button to mute it near the coin/ash tray.
Or was it this one: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...light=hardwire

One of these haha. It's pretty easy. Good luck.

Valentine sells an attachment that let's you plug into the OBD port. This makes "hard" wiring easier, and it also includes a speed sensitive function so you can trigger the alerts to only come on at a certain minimum speed.

I have this and am very satisfied.

you guys are making this so hard for your selves.
just pop out the dome light (just pry a corner with a screw driver or pry tool) and on the drivers side plug for the light there is a red wire.
you dont have to splice or anything, just wedge it into the back side of the connector that the red wire is going into, and there is a screw up in the dome light cavity that you can put the ground to.
no need to have more than 1 foot or wire

With the mirror do you still need to mount the detector in the wind shield because if you do i see no reason to spend $700 on a mirror... Does anyone have pictures of this set up, and would it be hard to do on my own?
