Had this issue awhile ago. If your finding water on the floor board . The water coming in is from the moisture barrier on the door panel. You need to remove the door panel and behind the panel you will see a foam panel. Around the edges of the panel it is sealed to the metal door frame with a black rubber adhesive sealant. Usually you can pull the foam back on the edges and find out where it's loose and not sealed good. Once you find the spot use some acetone on a rag and gently wipe the sealant. This will clean it and make it sticky again. Press the foam down firmly against the sealant and it should stick back good to it.

E90 with a sunroof- its the sunroof drain tubes, they are clogged.

E92 it's the door seal above the window. I've seen it get stiff, and not seal against the glass.

Had this same issue right after I bought the car, of course it had poured for a day while I was at work so it was terrible.

I took it to BMW the next day, it cost a $1,000 dollars and they said it was the Sun roof drain plus the door seals, they did a really good job cleaning up the mess and drying out the carpets and it hasn't leaked since and I keep checking because it was a nightmare.

I asked more about what it was but the service reps really don't know what was done in detail which I can understand to a point, but I wish they could explain in more detail how this happened...

I am having a similar issue. Rear driver foot well is very wet after heavy rain. I have checked the door vapor seal and it is fine. Can anyone explain how they unclogged the sunroof drains or if they found any other causes? Thanks!
