135 VS M3 OLA PDC results....
I know it is and has been a touchy subject that has been beaten to death but I would like to share something I find interesting. Yesterday the OLA stopped by the BMW PDC center and a 135 with AA piggyback, Motons, LSD and PF front brake calipers edged out the E90 M3. The E90 was driven by one of the PDC instructors (home track advantage) while the 135 was driven by James Clay. I haven’t looked or compared any of the rest of the results of OLA, but I did get a text to alert me of the PDC results. VIR will be interesting too, that is Clay’s home track so the M3 will have its work cut out.
I am pretty confident an M3 with similar mods (read Motons, PF's) would have probably been faster. On the track suspension and brakes are worth more time than anything…. |

Motons, no longer a street car, or one you'd want to ride in.

modded vs stock is never a very good comparison... There are modded mustangs that could probably beat an M3 around certain tracks. I am not running out to buy one though.

Looks like the 135 beat the M3 in most races. I'd like to see the results of James Clay driving the M3 and Mike Renner dirving the 135 to take the driver variability out of the equation.

I do not spend all that much time on forums so I am kind of a newb here. Please forgive me for posting in the wrong forum.
I have an E92 M3 in my driveway and would not trade it for a 135. I realize that one is stock and the other is not and that is why I specified that in my post. I also suggested that the M3 with Motons would probably win. There are many moded cars that could be faster but to compare it to a mustang is ridiculous. They are both BMWs albeit of different calibers, but for the argument of which would be more bang for your buck, I think this is relevant. Motons are not bad on the street at all, in fact they are more forgiving on the street than just about any other aftermarket shock/spring package that is/will be available. They have a very wide range of adjustment which allows them to be softened up. I bet Motons with after market springs would be softer than a car w/ EDC in its static mode with the same after market springs. But this is not the point for my post. Again, I really enjoy my car and I am in no way trying to promote one over the other. I was just throwing the little factoids out there. |

I guess the 135 will beat the ISF, RS4, C63 too huh? You better run out and get 135 now. Hurry

Clay is a great driver. I have raced with and against him. It is my understanding that Mike Renner is a competent driver as well. He definitely has turned more laps at PDC than anyone else there...

Lots of hate against the OP here huh? He's just pointing out some objective results. The 135 is a cool car. News alert: you can mod it and make it fast.
The M3 is cooler, and can probably be made faster if you want to mod it. But at the end of the day the M3 is also more luxurious, more practical, and more comfortable. You pay for it but it's worth it to some people, like me. For others, their money is better spent on the 135 (or 335). It's all good.

There are going to be some killer 135s! M3s are so nice out of the box I do not imagine a lot of them will be modded heavily. Cool to see the 1 series has great potential.

i cheked out the i35... it was pretty heavily modified...
also when it was on track.. it was compeltly stripped.. including all the seats except the driver one of corse.... they said it was 400wheel hp area too.... the guy that was driving it.. usually overdrove it and would make a mistake... |

Not true, I have lots of friends with motons on their cars that are driven on street and track.
