Another system I think you can throw into the mix is the Active Autowerke signature exhaust for the E9x platform!!!
We have installed several of these systems and have enjoyed each one! |

This goes to show you there is so much missing from the Internet experience. This sounds too good IMHO. As far as i can recall, it is the best demo clip for the M Performance I've watched. Also, I say no to clips with GoPros mounted to the bumper as it seems to capture mostly the raspiness. Perfect examples are the owner videos with the innotech and gopro mounted to the rear and the infamous eissenam rear mounted video where both sound like busy bees.

yup. I've had a total of 9 exhaust, and combos of parts. BMW performance is my favorite. But there are other good ones as well. If you want a full system and medium volume go Akra, sounds good, but titanium is a bit boring to me. Or I think full Dinan is slightly louder and has a more aggressive sound. If you want really loud and very unique/exotic go AA. I personally like OEM cats so I have no inspection or warranty issues, and I like the "could be from factory sound". Not too loud, but you know something is there.

GINTANI
GINTANI all the way!!! They make a great product for the most reasonable price. I purchased the catless x-pipe, with the hybrid exhaust (mixture between sport and race) and the ECU tune for about 4,600. Best money I ever spent, sounds like a NASCAR when your on it and slightly louder than stock when your not!

I've got the M Performance and haven't entertained anything else since putting it on. It was exactly what I was looking for. I like that it doesn't drone, the tone is awesome, is louder than stock and on the conservative side, very tasteful. I love the tips (inside paint removed). I like that it's made of Inconel (heat reducing super alloy) that is 2/3 lighter than stock. Most complaints I've heard are the big cans and tip size being too small. Not an issue for me. I love this exhaust!

I would save the money and get a 500 dollar megan axle back. No warranty issues since you wont remove any cats. No loss of low end power. And it sounds good. Or I would get the bwm one.

The only way you can really know what you want is by listening to all 3... I have an Akra full system... but this is what "I" wanted, but it may not be to your liking sound wise. What I can tell you about the Akra is that you will not find a better crafted system on the market... the workmanship is flawless. Oh... the only bad thing is the Akra is very pricey
There are alot more systems you can try out.... eissmans are good but too loud for me. I have not heard a Gintani so I cannot comment, but there are alot of guys on here that like them so maybe there is someone with one near by you that will take you for a ride. Personally I wouldnt go for the BMWP as its a little tame. Do your research and im sure you will find what you want. Good luck.

To my ears, there is almost little to no drone on our Gintani Sport at highway speeds. Every driver is different when it comes to sensitivity to sound. But comparing the sport to the race, for the drone level, is a world of a difference.

M Performance exhaust has no drone. The closest thing to drone happens at 2200 rpm and against at around 3800 rpm, a very slight resonance where the harmonics seem to hum. We're talking a 100-rpm band where this happens, and it's something I hear but nobody else does unless I point it out and they listen closely. If the windows are up and back seats up, it's nearly inaudible inside.

I think the /// Performance exhaust complements the car really well. I have no regrets. I think it's getting louder as you put the mls/kms on it. Everytime I have drive past crowds I've looked thru the rear-view mirror and I can assure people standing and looking at the car probably thinking "where the hell did that come from" in a nicer way.
Cold starts give you a raw note before settling down to a nice tone but as you floor the loud pedal it just comes alive. Will I buy a /// Performance exhaust again? Sure I will. It gives you best of both worlds -- better than stock sound and it's not aftermarket. Best part is that you don't have the dreaded drone associated with aftermarket exhausts. Doesn't matter who makes them there is that drone zone. It looks like only an OEM can cure that. BMW have proved it. In fact they have even cured the drone that exist with the stock exhaust around the 2k rmp range. Couldn't ask for more.

Last question: any hp gains with BMW? Gintani claims 8-12 with sport. I
would rather have no drone then increased power. Its kinda strange that dude that sells exhaust says no drone. Can anybody with gintani sport on their car tell me about drone? |

very hard to squeeze any measurable gains with the just a rear section
don't read too much into manufacturers stated gains....
