A Couple of E9x M3 Questions
Hi guys. Had my car a few months and of course loving it, but Im interested in changing/upgrading a couple of things but need some more info.
The car came with a CD changer but no USB input. Ive researched and it seems like a massive PITA and expense to retrofit the USB so I am thinking of going for a Mobridge. I have a pay monthly BMW insured warranty, will fitting a mobridge invalidate my warranty if something went wrong with the iDrive or nav? Id like to retrofit the DAB module, but cant find much information on whether or not its possible, can anyone confirm if it is or not? Any info would be great, thanks |

I havent looked, but I dont think there is one. Maybe that USB input in the glovebox is for loading music into the CIC nav unit? Mine is a 57 plate so is DVD based not HDD based. Will have a look anyway when I am home in 2 weeks.

it should on the rh side of the glove box on the upper edge...its really obscure , this is the one that you upload file to the hardrive , the one in the armrest is for playing yr mobil/mp3 player

Ny misses has the old I drive in her x5 and I enquired about putting the USB in it. £700 is what they wanted! My understanding is that it should not affect your warranty as long as the non BMW part was not to blame for any issues!

£700 is definitely not worth it. I dont get why anyone would spec the car without it, unless theyre of the older generation and dont use MP3 players. Its such a cheap option too, way more useful than adaptive headlights!!

harddrive satnav for the M3 only came out in the 09 model year so ...if its a 08 car the previouse owner cannot spec it(USB) if they wanted to ...but if its a "09" car then I "hear" yer !!

Option 6FL (USB) has been available on all models since they changed the CCC unit to the one with programmable buttons, March 07 in the UK. It adds the port under the armrest and supports all the standard USB devices and an apple based device with a Y cable. The later CIC units came in on the 09 cars and have a USB in the glovebox for updating, and the normal one in the armrest for music etc. |
