That will be pretty awesome if they actually make it. Love the sound of a turbo 5 cylinder, sounds angry and mean under load.

Love it.

This car would have eaten the M3 for breakfast.

I'll jump on this, but I would still rather own a Cayman S.

Oh God, if this car had this engine, it would have been the perfect RS5!

Good find HKS

I think Audi got it backwards. Further proving how the current A5/S5/RS5 are failures.

Why not use an S5 as a base?

With the exception of bigger brakes, is there anything that the S5 has over the A5 in terms of braking/handling performance? Not sure as to whether suspension components are different between the two.

"lightweight", so no 4.2 V8. And Audi A Sport pack and S models have interchangable suspension.

Nice, build it. I like how the engine is mounted like ours longitudinally. Wonder if they are using Torsen mechanical center diff. rather than Haldex?

I just assumed they had different suspension components...after some research it's really hard to tell. If the S5 is really just an A5 with a bigger engine I'm actually at a loss for why they'd charge such a big premium for it.

I'm reading that the suspension is "stiffer", but nothing indicates new geometry. Bigger wheels, brakes, and "stiffer" suspension, besides the engine.

This car isn't really an A5 or S5 in anything other than dimensions and appearance, the entire structure is made from alloy with some added CF panels. So your above question isn't really relevant.

Not entirely true, the S5 has it's suspension tuned differently to that of an A5 so while some components remain the same other are different. You need to think of the S range as the equivalent to your top of the range BMW prior to the M model. There are differences to the rest of the range but the differences aren't as dramatic as will be the case with the RS.

It's TorSen though in the case of this test example I'm unaware whether it's using the latest crown gear quattro system.

What you are witnessing here is the future of how the next A4/5 will be built, maybe not the entire spaceframe being made for alloy but certainly a sizable percentage. At the very least you are getting an insight into what Audi want the next RS5 to be like.

That's GT3 RS weight range! Very good... But eight cylinders is the minimum needed for no negative torque. Maybe drop an undersquare 2.4T V8 with VGT? Hah... Wishful thinking.

I know where the S stands nominally in the range, but what suspension components exactly are different, aside from suspension "tuning?"
