my first e92 m3

As the title states, just introducing myself here. Finally snagged a v8. I daily drove a f82 for 4 years until I sold it for my m2cs last summer. Been looking for a second M for the last 4-5 months. Ended up snagging this for the dealer tonight. It was listed on BaT a few months ago.

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...-m3-coupe-4-2/

In terms of mods, I think I will stick with the zcp coding, GTS dct, eventuri intake, X pipe with tune and under drive pulley. What do most people recommend in terms of tuning and x pipe? For wheels, I have a set of vmr v710ff that I used as winters on my f8x and will probably just make that the daily wheels on this car. Not looking for anything too crazy in terms of exhaust as it'll be my daily but definitely want to unleash the v8 soundtrack as that's the main reason I bought it. I'm running the Active Autowerk signature exhaust on my m2cs and love it. Anyone have experience with their x pipe on the e92?

Oh and also probably ss brake lines with upgraded fluid and pads. I'm spoiled by the CCBs on my m2 and it was night and day when I drove a local e92 lol. It's still not bad for a daily street car but I do go on spirited country roads so I think the stated above should be more than enough. Any recs on good pads? Used to have ferodo ds2500 on my m4 after replacing the OEM at 50k miles and they were pretty nice

Congrats, car looks very clean! Curious how do you compare these two as you get to experience more the newcomer. Is your CS manual? Get done the CDV if you haven't, great improvement, had mine done just last week.

This is what i opted to do with the brakes on my e93, expensive but utterly satisfying.

I had a pic somewhere, the 2NH front brake pad is easily double the size of the blue brake pad or the oem e9X M3 pad.

The m2cs is also a dct. At the time I purchased it, there was an approximate $6-8k premium on a manual. I won't lie though, I think the dct is fantastic and the reason I was okay getting it on the cs was knowing that it's the last ever dct for a bmw. That is somewhat meaningful imo too.

Man, what a line up!!! Have an f82 myself and picked up a e92 in March of this year and love it! Find myself wanting to drive the e92 more often than the f82. Keep us posted on the mods…

Edit: just saw the mileage on the BaT post…under 20k?!?!? Wow!

Car heading to auto couture in a couple weeks for a lot of preventative maintenance and a touch of mods. Test pipes, stage 2 and coding for zcp dampers/GTS dct/euro mdm. Rn it's 100% stock. Car sounds really good from the factory but it's mainly a ton of induction. Looking forward to opening up the exhaust a bit. Any suggestions on what Axel back pairs well with test pipes?

Lol yeah just shy of 19k miles. Single senior citizen owner who took very good care of it

gotta get that black kidney grill tho. and some cf mirror caps. then it'll look just like the one i sold

i had an MPE with test pipes and liked how it sounded. Akra catback (again, test pipes) had too much drone for me.

and -- nice ride!

Lol I'll probably just keep the OEM mirror caps for now since they're ppf already. But yes the grills are on the list for sure. Just bought the lux 189 bulbs as well to bring a little life into the headlight. I think I'll code out the amber side markers on the lights when I switch the bulbs too. Was planning on doing the lci euro tails as well but I kind of like the pre lci for now

A beautiful low mile example. You may want to consider checking the injectors to make sure they are not stuck or leaking. In the two years I’ve been participating in this forum I’ve seen 3 or 4 s65 of various mileage report bore scored engines from bad injectors. Knowing what I know from other car communities, I worry that garage queens are especially prone to injector issues if they were stored with gas containing ethanol.

interesting. this was something i brought up with auto couture but they told me the opposite and the fact that the car was sitting it wouldn't have seen any contamination coming into the injectors. what should i look for? just take off the plenum and look around the injector sites for residue?

Dude, what an amazing find! I got in touch with Matt at AutoCouture as soon as I was ready to buy, but PPI results came back excellent from 2 shops in my area so held off.

My e92 came with a megan exhaust actually, which to my surprise, isn’t too bad. Sometimes I wish it was a bit louder, but once it warms up, it’s pretty solid IMO. I’ve heard a lot of folks going for the Miesterschaft for max/increased sound, but having a hard time pulling the trigger on a brand new $2k+ axle back. I’ve been tempted with an aftermarket x-pipe, but reading so many mixed things about it. Probably need to hear it in person to really make a decision.

I'll let you know next month what the AA test pipes sound like. Otherwise I'm leaving the secondary cats and resonators with stock Axel back. If it's still too quiet I'll just do a back box most likely but that'll be TBD. Just bought ferodo ds2500 pads, motul 600 and SS lines. The CCBs on the M2CS spoiled me 😂

Others have mentioned popping the entire rail up and checking them when the pump is primed. If you see any fluid come out of them it is stuck open and can bore wash that cylinder. I haven’t done it myself as previous owner changed out all the injectors before I took ownership. Search this site for examples of hydrolock or bore scoring.

It may not be that you will even have an issue but the s85 engine has the same issue with bore scoring and bad injectors probably due to ethanol in the fuel. It’s a fairly well characterized problem among M5/M6 owners of that generation. If you have to take the plenum off, they’re right there. You can probably check in ISTA for ignition quality as well. Just my $0.02

Congrats! I'm actively looking for another E92 to add to my M2cs. Matt and crew are awesome. My last E92 had rod bearings done there at 19k miles also.
