E90 Carbon Fiber Roof

Not an M3 but I'm sure you E90 M3 guys can appreciate a real carbon fiber roof.

Big changes for 2015. Since I've been tracking my car I've got hooked on the track bug. With that, some function and form mods in the works.

Carbon Fiber roof from IND Distribution. Saves about 50 lbs from the highest point of the car. Probably won't shave lap times but a lighter car handles better, brakes better, accelerates faster, and gets better MPG.

Custom vented hood in progress. I've been dealing with some heating issues, even with the Mishimoto Radiator so I figure let's vent the hood. I could've bought a carbon fiber vented hood but I don't like the way they look and that would have been too easy.

Build in progress and will be updated accordingly...

The carbon roof looks great. Can't wait to see the finished product. I'm curious how much custom hood would cost vs some of the carbon fiber aftermarket ones with built-in vents.

Pretty sure I saw this on Instagram yesterday. Looks great! Can't wait to see it done

How is removing the roof? I figured it would take a lot of cutting but that looks like bolt holes to me

I think it's a wash especially if you get a full carbon fiber hood and pay for shipping ($200-$250). For a custom one off hood you get it exactly the way you want it and no one else will have a clone.

The OEM roof is spot welded and held on with glue. You have to remove the front windshield and back glass. Drill out spot welds with special drill bit and chisel off glue.

I'll have update pics soon.

I love function and form mods. I definitely recommend it. You can check it out sometime since you're local.

The roof is pretty much done and the car is put back together. I'm getting the rail and shark fin painted and that will be installed soon. You can check it out as early as tomorrow or Friday.

Windshield, back glass, and interior reinstalled. Roof side rails and shark fin is currently being painted but the roof is basically done.

We're still working on the hood and that's just primer on it so I can drive it temporarily. I really like how subtle it looks. You can't really tell it's there unless you're standing near the side/back of the car.

Pretty much drill out spot welds and chisel away glue. Not much cutting.

Looks insane! A must on an E90 IMO. Do you mind sharing what the labor costs roughly were? I would be interested in doing this if I get a E90. Thanks.

Again, looks absolutely awesome!
