This is my first e9x M3 and I love it,but then again Ive only had it for a few months.I don't see how its weak sauce when every time I feel like,I can generate a smile on my face. It's amazing
The problem with humans is that we get bored with pretty much every car we own at some point.I used to have a '07 997gt3 and before I took delivery, I felt like a kid the night before Christmas. But after 6 months of ownership and getting used to the power and handling, the car was just another fast car.Yes I had more people giving the thumbs up and more admirers than the M3 but that was the only real difference emotionally. In order to really generate more adrenaline and get that high again I had to take the car to the track.Even if you had the GT3 you would still need MORE at some point.Luckily Porsche makes the GT2 One thing I have learned over the years is,dumping money in any particular car only fixes the urge for that dream car temporarily. At the end of the day even if you dump 40K into an M3 it's still an M3,and If you're doing that to satisfy a craving for a GT3 or F430scud,its only a matter of time till you start parting out the BMW to go for the PORSCHE.Then when you've had your fill and miss the practicality and value of the M3,you'll come back |

I absolutely love my M3 but in reality it is just not fast enough straight line to be a super car, I don't think it is possible to argue that. For a guy like me who doesn't track, I'm thinking a C63 would have been the better choice

What makes you think the M3 is a super car? And don't forget you tacked on 400lbs with your purchase. That's like riding around with + 2 full grown adults at all times.

I've driven a C2S and an M3 back-to-back on a track for an entire day. And a 997.2 TT with PDK as well. A bit faster? The C2S walks away from an M3. The non "S" is a pretty even match, even then, still handles better. Carrera's are on rails. The M3 is an exceptional handler but it's no Porsche.

Honestly, I can see exactly where you are coming from and like many others have said, you're in the wrong car. I came from a 911s and that car is MUCH more exciting to drive than the M3 and I think a person like you will enjoy it. I sold mine because I needed a car that could handle being a DD while being fun, comfortable, and be able to haul luggage and people around for the days I want to have more fun than my Range. I don't regret my M3 purchase but if I could have it my way I would have a GT3 / 997TTS Vert. EXTREMELY modded / or a Cayman S with a bunch of mods next to my M3 and Range. To tell you the truth, this M3 might be my last M3. All fun cars after this M3 will probably be F-Car, Lotus, or Porsche for me and I'll be looking at the new M5 as a nice DD/comfy car.

+1 Nobody said the M3 is a "super car". Everybody has their own opinion here, "driving a 911s is WAY more exciting to drive than an M3", etc...drive the M3 at its limits and tell me its NOT exciting! Anyway, I love this car! I drive my kids to school in the morning, my wife & kids out to dinner in it, to the golf course with clubs in the trunk, and on the track.........all for $69K......IMO there is NO other car in its class!! Cayman=awesome car=no back seats, Z06 =BEAST of a car=no back seats, GT3=incredible track car=no back seats, as well as being $40K MORE than an M3. End of rant, thanks

The Porsche is a Track car, the M3 is a street car.

My advice is to start driving other cars, only then will you know how good the M3 is.
The thing about fast cars is that they will never be as fast as you anticipate them to be. No matter the car...M3, 997TT, Scuderia. The second time I floored these cars, the first thing i asked myself was "I thought it was faster". On a side note, the comment of the M3 "blowing your mind in every way". That's just unrealistic. You over hyped the car to begin with, so your imagination set the car to be something its not. If you think a GT3 is going to feel "blow your mind" quicker, you're wrong. Again, setting the car up for failure. You may have had the same problem with your mods. You believed that they would make an extreme difference, but you were disappointed by the result. truth is the m3 is designed to feel that way and no amount of mods in the world will ever make it feel like a sports car.

The beauty of the M3 is that it's a car you can daily drive AND take to the track AND enjoy on a back road. Inherently, that which makes it a good daily driver make it worse at the others.
I suspect you're disappointed because you're using it as a weekend car. If you're using it for that, imho you did get the wrong car-- that where you get a 911, vette, etc. Cars that you wouldn't or couldn't drive on a daily basis. It's too comfortable and too competently to be a fun weekend toy. But that's also the brilliance of the car-- comfort and competence.

Have to say coming from a tuned 335, the M still blows my mind. I drive mine every second I can. If I even sense that I get bored, I hit EDC twice, hit the power button and put it into S5 The biggest issue I have is that I don't get the chance to open it up as much as I would like. This car is the perfect car as a DD for me. Nothing it cannot do IMO. Yes a 911 turbo would be much faster, maybe handle better but the M does for me what I want it to do. I was nervous about driving it in the winter but the thought of it sitting in the garage killed me. Slapped some snow shoes on it and the thing rocked
Sorry you are disappointed in the car. Start driving it more. I could not imagine walking by the car every day and seeing it sit in the garage as I pulled away.

Honestly, nothing will feel better than my 1000hp civic. I'm "living my life a quarter mile at a time".

The E92 is disappointing - Yes, but only insofar as it does not rise to the level of expectations that the E46 M3 set. When the E46 hit, and people saw how much better it was than the E36, it was amazing.
I think a lot of people expected the same level of improvement over the E46 in the E9X. It's a better car, but not by leaps and bounds like the E46 was... Just my 2 cents..
