Alpine White E92 Dyno At EAS EVOLVE Tune
I know this is a bit premature since I have my dynos stored at EAS's computers at this moment but I couldn't help but post to expect 2 nice dyno sheets showing improvement (if any) with an Evolve tune tomorrow 9/27/11.
My setup (parts all from EAS) engine wise is a Macht Schnell Pulley, Macht Schnell stage 2 intake, Full Akrapovic Evo exhaust (x pipe also Akra). I did my "baseline" dyno with the gang at EAS last week and that setup showed I was getting about 369-370 wbhp and it was 90 degrees outside. Again, I will post that dyno sheet tomorrow. I am going in tomorrow to EAS to get an Evolve tune with Paul@ Evolve paying close attention from wherever he is in this world and tune that baby. Hopefully, I get that 10-15 hp gain I keep reading everyone else getting. It is also not going to be 90 degrees tomorrow so I'm not so sure how that will affect the outcome but I think we will do another "baseline" dyno tomorrow before the tune. Will post the results tomorrow night (I get off at work at 8pm PST).

sorry, custom ecu should actually be taken out...i didn't know what to call it back then. I got coding to further custom the car like turning off the yellow amber lights so they come on only when I use the turn signal, pushing a button not only locks my car but moves my mirrors automatically in, I have DVD in motion, having my windshield wipers make a complete cycle even after I turn off the car, low gas light comes on only at 1/8 tank vs 1/4, etc....sorry for the confusion bro

I am DEFINITELY excited to see these results! After finishing up my E46 M3, these are the exact modifications I plan on doing to my E90 M3. It will be great to see the gains you get.
Having worked with Evolve and them remotely tuning my E46 M3 on the dyno, I assure you, you'll have a great experience. Sal and Paul are the best to work with and I'm sure EAS will make the process that much easier as well. Best of luck and share your results as soon as you can!

Make sure you tell EAS that you want your dyno (.DRF) files. That
way you can have them uploaded to the Dyno Database (www.bmwdynodatabase.com). From there, anybody can download them and compare against others with similar mods. |

Sal will be able to update the thread from his POV after testing is completed, as we are having a bit of trouble during flashing with this particular DME In the meantime, we experienced some results that resulted in better gains on 91oct than 91/100oct mixed (which was unfortunately brought up later after Tuesday's session), which will require a 3rd session to verify consistency. We've already pulled over 30 runs on this car alone. While this particular scenario is probably a marketing dream, it's not what we want to present as real-world results. More to come early next week.

Just for the record and not to confuse current and future thread readers, there is nothing wrong with using STD correction factors. It is simply just another equation used to help standardize dyno measurements. If my memory serves me right, I think SAE uses 77ºF, where as STD uses 60ºF, hence why overall numbers tend to read higher when STD correction factor is used.
So to say that STD correction factor "spikes gains" is not exactly correct provided that the same correction factor is used in all runs. What matters the most is that anyone sharing dynos remains consistent with their method of measurements and collecting data. The only downside with using STD is that one is not able to compare them accurately with the more traditionally used SAE. Even when you calculate the change in power between two runs in STD, then compare the change in the two runs in SAE, it is still an extremely small amount of difference between two. Often times it's just a fraction of a single horsepower. The only way STD could be considered inflating numbers is when it is compared to SAE. I don't know EAS' exact methodolgy in measuring or conducting their dynos runs. All I know is that in their recent dynos, they have been pretty candid with their results. I do personally wish it was in SAE so we can compare to the typical average runs of other members. It should also be noted that a lot of other tuners advertise their gains using STD dynos as well, so nothing wrong with that. Ultimately, when looking at these dynos, what matters more is the change between dyno runs, not necessarily final numbers. Anyways, to stay on track of the purpose of this thread... Like many others, I am very anxious to see the results you guys have gained. Hopefully you're able to sort out some of the hiccups you have ran into.

Hi guys,
This particular car started with slightly lower power than what EAS normally get from an Akra Evo and MS intake system. Was running on high octane mixed with 91 to start with. The way EAS dyno is to take the absolute highest baseline before runing and not the lowest which the majority of tuners are doing. Tuning was done and the power went up. Car came back with 91 octane and made more power but also with 1% negative correction. Adaption does take place but where we are dealing with different fuels there is no consistency and therefore no conclusive results should be shown. To get true gains we need a base car, everything fitted and then tuned within a short period of time with some driving time for the tune and then a final test with the same fuel grade. Otherwise we get gains which are too big or too small. |
