Lowering Seat?
I'm tall, but not super tall. (6 Feet). With the stock seats lowered all the way down I still have to recline too much to clear the roof. This is a daily driver so any sort of aftermarket seat that would be fixed in position would probably not be a good idea. I like to sit more upright, I'm not a teenage with the Gansta Lean going on...
Maybe modifying the seat bracket? I'm sure there has to be a bunch of you guys 6 feet tall. |

I'm 6'1 and I sit fairly upright, no issues with the roof. I don't even think I have the seat lowered all the way. Maybe a pic of you sitting in the car (side profile with the door open) to see? I've had taller folks sit in the passenger seat without much issue either, so I'm just curious as to how you're sitting.

It also looks like the passenger seat sits slightly lower. |

ahhh, you have the sunroof. I have the CF roof. I wonder how much space that takes away?
you could always hunch over like an old lady and drive that way...not great for the spine, but you'd fit! |

I'm 6'3 but my leg span is longer than my torso, so I don't have any problems sitting upright. You must have most of your height from above the waist if you are only 6 feet tall and have issues sitting upright.

CF roof here and 6 feet tall. I sit upright too and pretty close to the wheel but no problems with clearance unless I have my helmet on for a HPDE event. Then I put a little more recline in it so as not to bump the roof.
Maybe the "sunroof top and diggin' the scene with a gangsta lean" is the way you need to do it. |

Ive pondered this a bit lately myself. not because i have issues sitting upright and hitting the roof, but because i would just like a lower profile in the car.
i am 6'3" and i sit pretty upright and my head has about an inch from hitting the roof. with a helmet i would be in trouble but just driving ive never even hit the roof once. didnt even realize i was as close as i was until i checked. my seat is all the way back and all the way down, so maybe i am long in the legs too. |

It's just the design of the car. I'm 6' 3" and I "feel" much higher in this car, but the reality is that my head is about the same distance from the roof as my Q50. When getting in the M3 after driving the Q50, the M3 doesn't feel right. But I get used to it pretty quickly. I can fit with a helmet though I have to be reclined a tad more than I'd like to be.

Recaro Seats
I too seem to be looking out of the top of the windshield (6'3") and would like a lower seating position and better side bolstering (not to mention a 4 point seat harness).
EAS Recaro Seats I am considering the Recaro Sportster CS, which to the bets of my knowledge is the same as the BMW Performance seats. These come in more than one size, color, do recline and can fold forward so that you can access the backseat. I've sat in these and they are comfortable enough for everyday driving and supportive enough for track day driving events. |

I'm 6'5 evenly proportioned upper lower body and have an e90 w sunroof. In stock seats my head was just over an inch from the headliner with a bit of recline. Felt very high in the car and couldn't see traffic lights changing unless I ducked.
Installed Recaro Profi XL's for a more aggressive driving experience but also to lower my center of gravity/visibility. With planted floor mounts, side mounts and Recaro sliders I wasn't much more than half inch lower than stock so FYI in case you consider this option (if you're 6ft or more a non XL Recaro shell will prob be too small but would give your more headroom as it sits lower I think). So I removed the sliders and in a quite upright seat position I now have about 2+ inches, perfect visibility...much better. Removing the sunroof and replacing with either carbon or a traditional lid is about $3500-$5000 I think but I'll still probably have to do that if I end up tracking for helmet space. I don think the BMW Performance seats and Recaro Sportsters et al save much on their own. Not sure how you CMS lower the stock seats either.

I'm 6'3" and I am am torso tall and this seat is garbage. My shoulders are higher than the top of the seat back and the non-integrated headrest is totally lame in a sports coupe. The rear view mirror is directly in my view and I feel like I can peer down over my hood from my seat and see my freakin splitters.
With a helmet on, even with the CF roof it feels like I can't turn my head left without bumping the roof line on the left side. Anyway, these seats would be great if they could be two inches lower. Regarding those Recaro Sportster seats: I sat in one once and they felt very flimsy. You could torque the seat back just by moving around and it feels pretty cheap if you like the solid feel and nice (yet fragile) leather on the stock seat. I wouldn't be a buyer of any variant of the Recaro seat unless it was reupholstered to factory quality in real Novillo and had a CF seat back for rigidity. |
