Cold Air intakes

I know they don't actually add any noticeable power, but I had an aFe stage 2 intake on my 530i and I really loved how it made the car sound. I have the 4 pipe replacement OEM exhaust mod on the M3 and want some intake from the front. The 3 I'm really looking at are the Dinan (obviously), aFe stage 1 carbon elbow, aFe stage 2, or the GruppeM one. Price wise aFe is cheapest, and GruppeM is most expensive, like I can buy almost 6 aFe intakes for one GruppeM. But the GruppeM has SO MUCH CARBON, so pretty

What do you guys think, save up some money to get the GruppeM later on, or go with Dinan or one of the aFe, probably stage 1?

And if any one has clips of their cars with any of the intakes and can share it, that would be great

I saw 7whp gain over an AA drop in filter with my AFE Stage Intake kit.

I'm selling a custom AFE stage 2 made to be an open element filter while still keeping a heat shield under the filter to shield radiant heat from the driver's header.

Works very well and sounds UNREAL! I also live in FL where it's about 100 degress for 9 months out of the year and I never noticed any issues and the filter still stays cool due to using the front factory ram air locations. PM me if you want !

My problem with the stage 2 one is that I know they won't pass CA smog. The stage one still looks stock enough where they won't be able to tell.

Another reason why CA sucks. Although its very easy (maybe 30 min tops) to go back and forth. (I really miss living in CA )

Yea. I had to swap out the stage 2 I had on the old car whenever I needed smog. 20-30 minutes but still annoying.

Get the Macht Schnell Stage 2. You can get it as package with the scoops. Like the AFE it uses it's own elbow and filter and leverages the rest of the stock setup. For power gains not much difference between the 3 you mention and the MS and from a sound perspective I would use the savings on where sound really counts - the exhaust

I have the GruppeM. Great sound! And, yes, lots of carbon In spite of common sentiment on the forum, there is nominal power to be gained from it. Search for Eurotuner review and article

That's probably my favorite of the intakes, but can't justify $3500 for it lol.

There is 2 AFE Stg. 2 intakes. The one I have is the CF elbow and keeps the OEM box. However, it still could be a give away..

This part goes in the stock airbox..

Yeah, I wouldn't spend anywhere near $3500 on it either. That's why I bought it used
