Is it possible to track M3 without drifting?
Every time i see a vid on the new M3 every driver is drifting.. Is the M3 capable of competing on track w/o drifting?
I mean drifting is amazing and all but in terms of progressive tracking, is the M3 capable of doing that.

Yes, but it's more fun to watch them drift than take it around the correct way. Why do you think Clarkson and Tiff always drive like that?

Drifts are a helluva lot of fun, it's done in alot of these vids to please the viewers, drivers, for pure joy of driving. The drifts are clearly controlled due to the handling characteristics of the car...what you should take note of to crush your fears is how the M3 roars out of the drifts like a slingshot...very impressive if you ask me. :rocks:

Its just to make the vid exciting... it would be a little boring to watch the M just make turns...

I'd rather watch someone drive the car the quick way through the corner than sticking the tail out to impress the teenage girls.
If the tires are smoking through a corner, you're gonna get passed on the next straight.

With provocation it'll drift. Keep it clean and it'll be fine. It doesn't post low 8s on the 'ring by drifitng out of höhe acht.

Its already rumored to have a ring time that puts the E46 M to shame... The new M is more than a capable track car based on this alone.

If you watch Top Gear the first shots of the car with the announcers driving there is lots of tire smoke and drifting. That's for entertainment. When they give the car to the Stig for a timed lap everything is kept tidy with a little oversteer out of a few corners like Chicago.

Let's hope not, but if it happens, they'll just 4 wheel drift that.

OK Yes it is possible to not Drift an M3 but you will not be as fast a driver on the edge 4 wheel drifting is due to the of the speed of the wheels and the limits of adhesion you will be driving more aggressively and normally much faster with a small amout of Drift
Not Tokyo Drifts however
