Got to be honest. Back in 1997 when I had my 318i I did put an M3 badge on the trunk. The guys who purchased my 318i, sold his 1992 NSX to Carmax and bought my 318i. Weird. WOW that was so long ago.

Actually his girlfriend liked M3s but he didn't want to spend so much money on the car (but he already had NSX which wasn't cheap either). He sold his NSX and bought my 318i since it kinda looked like an M3.
