Even in Texas there will be an investigation when someone gets shot and killed. This will involve investigators from agencies such as or similar to the local police department, the prosecutors office, a major crimes unit, coroners office, etc. Someone will realize very quickly that the body has been moved. With any shooting there is a lot of paperwork. You are doing paperwork for years. There is the criminal investigation. The civil investigation, because you will get sued. Grand jury testimony. Interviews with attorneys.

You are correct that different parts of the U.S. have different perceptions of the right to bear arms. That's why different states can handle it differently. I disagree though that it's a north/south thing. Socialist New york, Boston and the like suppress the majority of individual liberties for the sake of security. Minus perhaps Oregon, the N. boarder states that comprise the western U.S. are quite pro liberty/pro bill of rights. It's not living in a state of paranoia, it's just being mindful as you wrote there are bad people out there. I don't carry all the time, just when I think there may be a need too. You never let government disarm you, ask the Jews. BTW, Canada is a fine country. I hope you can keep it that way. |

If only I live in the US. Here in California, we can't carry in our cars (unless locked in the trunk), we're limited to 10 rounds, and it's virtually impossible to get a CCW in the greater LA area.

I know, California is no place to be when it comes to owning guns. Unless your illegal and don't follow the law anyways. Then it's anything you want. No offense, but Cali government has screwed up what was once one the best states ever. Beautiful country, good jobs, innovation. Now business and working people are leaving due to the massive taxes and over-regulation.
And state-gov continues to do the same thing, refusing to see the massive cluster-f$%k they have created. I don't think parts of SoCal are even American anymore. The die-hard illegals have taken it as part of Mexico now. Funny though, what do they think is going to happen. they came to partake in our success but refuse to assimilate. Thus recreating the same system that they fled. lovely. |

I keep my .45 in the center console or in the little pull out thing in the door. Either works fine.

Your holster should be positioned so you have access to the gun with no problems. You should also be able to gain access to is and bring it to your target without muzzle sweeping you or a passenger.

I just keep my H&K 45 in the glove box... I came close to getting jacked on the test drive, the night that I bought the car - So I will always have my 45 handy. This was 2 or 3 miles from BMW West in Houston.

Since I rarely have a passenger I'm going to mount a M240 7.62mmx51mm on the passenger side and CS despensers on the M3's flanks. i'll slave the 240 to a head mounted optical sight too.

In Texas, with CHL, you can carry firearm, concealed in public place (but even with CHL, you're not allowed to carry concealed in a liquor store or any bar(51% alcohol rule)). Also its illegal to consume or intoxicated by alcoholic beverages while you carry concealed(when any offense is committed).
Without CHL, any resident in Texas can have firearm in their private property and in their vehicle(concealed). Of course, if you're convicted felon or convicted of family violence(Class A offense), you can't carry any firearms, period. |

357 sig is hard to find and is not common. You might as well stick with 9mm +P or +P+ if your gun is rated for it. Regardless of calibur, nothing is as important is training. |

I know that in Florida all three methods are perfectly legal if you have a Concealed Weapons Permit. It doesn't have to be concealed, it just means it's ok for you to conceal the weapon. Florida is an open carry state, which means you can keep the gun in your car without a permit as long as it's in plain view of someone standing outside the window. I'm not really sure what you're basing your judgement about the legality on.

Also remember, many states do not recognize each others concealed carry permits. So if you have a concealed carry permit in one state, that does not mean you are authorized to conceal carry in another state. And yes, if you are pulled over and the officer discovers you have a concealed weapon (especially if you failed to tell the officer about it) and you DO NOT have a concealed carry permit, you better expect to have some problems with LE. edit: as someone else mentioned, the rules are a bit different if you are in a open carry state (like Virginia)

Actually many states do recognize each others' CCL via reciprocity laws. You still have to know the laws to carrying in a vehicle in each state (ie. gun & ammo separate, in the trunk, etc). But - as an example - I know WY and UT recognize CO-approved CCL. It's not uncommon.
