Does MPE exhaust affect car mpg?

I'm not suggesting that it does, but just want to check if there is any way an MPE exhaust or other after market exhaust could reduce the car's fuel efficiency. I've noticed I'm getting lower MPG but 99% it's because I'm driving harder trying to hear the exhaust note

Only to the extent that any ~20lb weight reduction would impact mileage

This^. You may drive harder just to hear the exhaust. One of my deciding factors was to get an exhaust that did not require me to rev up all the time to experience it. Now I do want to rev up to much because it sounds like I ringing it while every one else it putting around passing me!

Finding the right balance is tough I guess.
