Great private schools, an hour from skiing, beautiful scenery, great driving roads practically right out my back door. It is a very culturally diverse region with good restaurants, etc. Our COMBINED mortgage payments on a 7000 sq foot 6 bedroom primary home and 2500 sq foot 4 bedroom vacation home is $3600 per month.

SF and NYC can go f*ck themselves !!!! I didn't even want to stay in Boston after finishing all my medical training due the cost of living relative to salaries.

Word, I have a 3bd/3bth 1700 sq ft home in the OC and I pay $4300/mo (and I bought at the lows). I didnt know property was that cheap in Maine.

But I am still fortunate to be in Cali and have a trail attached to the back of my house, 7 minutes from the Beach, 2 hrs from the local ski resort, and 35 mins to downtown LA....oh and cant forget 4.5hrs to Vegas!

Sorry this post may come off a snobby to some but thats what a thread like this generates.

I have come to participate in the sword fight.

Occasionally I do feel some buyer's remorse for buying such an expensive car, of course that all goes away once I turn on the ignition.

Yup. That's the great thing about California. You get a bit of everything. Great weather pretty much 365 days a year. We actually don't get enough rain each year and it never snows except for in the mountains. Beach access is 1-2 hours away for most people and Skiing/Snowboarding is 2-3 hours away. I'm about 2.5 hours max away from 3 great race tracks and that doubles if I want to drive 4-6 hours. Lots of diversity which also means lots of great food. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else in the US so I have to pay to play.

Thanks. I lived in Long Beach/Anaheim for a couple years and Irvine for like 9. I do miss SoCal.
