** From Street to Track car - E92 build photo journal** (updated 9/16)
updated photo! see below for build info
[/url]IMG_5007 8/27/17 - Updated post #20 ( wires, strip down and cage) 8/28/17 - Updated post #25 (flossman fenders) 9/10/17 - Update post # 32 (paint color, prep and spray) 9/16/17 - Update post # 36 ( paint is done!) Its been a while since I've created a post, but there are various posts on the forum about my various stages and personalities of my 2008 e92 m3 dct. I was asked by a few members and IG friends (IG: jamespaick_m3) to post up the newest updates of my car. Just a quick intro. I got my m3 mainly just a street cruiser with minor mods. I've done occasional track days with prior cars but until I got this M3 on a track, the mod bug quickly infected me! Thanks for all the help on building my dream car...DTM autosalon, EAS, Evasive Motorsports, Trinity Autosports, Horn's Collision Center, Platte Form, Impressive Wrap, Motorsport 24! So from the start Jerez black with H&R springs and a axle back exhaust and SSR wheels. Later upgraded to KW V3's and a full Akrapovic evolution exhaust. New set of mods geared for track driving..Brembo BBK, APR splitter, Arkym cf trunk and later got a Varis GT wing. I also ended up with a pair of Recaro Pole positions and a Autopower roll bar (bolt in) The matte grey wrap phase comes into play and tons of track days. Eventually came swapped to Stoptech BBK and went from 19inch TE's to 18 inch TE's mainly for fire selection choices. At this stage, I started to downplay the aggressive wing and opted for the GTS look and downforce USA lip, sides and diffuser The wrap lasted a good amount of years and went with a re-wrap. This time a light grey gloss by Impressive Wrap. I went through a few stages of APR GT wing, wingless w duckbill trunk, front aero and diffuser combos. Engine mods are just an Arma Intake, Akrapovic with GT4 spec x-pipe and JRZ RS pro suspension, upgraded bushings for engine, trans and diff. BBS LM (19 inch) More various shots of different set ups during this time BBS E88 (my favorite wheel) Now big changes come from a big commitment of making the M3 into a more dedicated track car (but can't help driving her on the street still)Interior upgrades include: Sparco wheel with paddles, carbon door cards from Motorsport 24 and a set of Defi gauges to monitor some engine temps and GT4 wing. Also upgraded all coolers (oil, radiator, power steering, DCT) as well as stripped interior. no carpet, headliner, radio, speakers, gps, amps, etc etc) Track trim and now going to Trinity Autosports for some next level stuff...more updates to come!!! Sorry for the pause on updates...but here are some new ones!
The car was a well performing track / street car. To improve safety measures, I bought a Hans device and Recaro Hans seat. While in the process of installing the seat, I looked at the wiring loom that is scattered through out the car and thought "would be nice to thin our the wires I'm not using'. By this point I had no radio, gps, speakers, sub, amp, rear seats etc, so I had a good amount of wires and connectors that were just pointless. So...the M3 went through a wire thinning phase and also decided to go with a hefty, welded and reinforced Roll bar, remove sound deadening. Cut rear deck Now since the interior was getting redone, I decided to paint the entire car a new fresh color. here are some prep photos of the car, wrap removed and getting ready for paint preparation. |
