Top Gear TV feat. M3, C63, & RS4 scheduled for 12/23/07
It was buggin the heck out of me when they would test drive the M3 on Top Gear so I went on a hunt to find out. Seems they saved it for ep. 10, the last in the fall season. Should be good!

FINALLY! I've been starting to feel resentment against TG for not doing the M3... Now they finally are going to do a full test, comparing the M3 against its rivals.
That should be a lot of fun! |

GOOD FIND! I've been going crazy for when they will cover the new M3. I was alittle split between wanting them to review the competitors as well or just do a straight up solo review. Last episode when they had the M5 in the studio and started talking about another car that was cheaper it got my hopes up and they threw the VXR at me... 3rd time they've reviewed that car. :/ |

I think Mr Clarkson is like me, he doesn't want all the techno wizardry that BMW seem to be stuffing their M cars with now-a-days and I agree with this, like why give a car 7 gearbox settings, 2 diff setting, 3 suspension setting, different steering setting, what is the point?
A car with one setting which happens to cover everything is the answer. Start with the suspension, the new M3 has three but I bet almost everyone will use normal as sport is too stiff and comfort doesn't have enough body control, steering setting and again normal is which will be used. Regardless of the number of options, we may try them all but end up only using the one long term, they are gimmicks. I know he liked the older M cars, like the E39 M5 but these new breed hi-tech machines just don't cut it when you in your mid to late forties, it's all to confusing. |

If you check JC's comments on this car he said that "it was woolly, had an uncontrollable clutch, and was frankly boring to drive" You can call this car many things but not boring!! There is no pleasing this guy when it comes to BMW. Dont know why but he has someting against them generally. |

... its all part of Jeremy's standard routine barking on about the tech in BMWs. i-drive, flappy paddle gearbox, sat nav woman, unable to change the radio station to BBC Radio 4, a million settings for SMG, etc, etc all to make the film reviews entertaining.
We brits are a cynical bunch ... and love to hear when things aren't perfect, especially in BMWs. The 3-Series is so popular in the UK ... although not the nice 6 cylinder ones like over here ... but the not-so-cheap over there 318 ... debadged of course !! ;-) Oh ... and here's Jeremy's review of the E46 M3 CS from 2006 ... a trip down memory lane for the E46 crowd out there! http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/tol...icle716864.ece |

Sorry, I stand corrected. I honestly thought is was a techno thing as he comments on how Ferrari are getting to technical. I do know he loves both the R8 and the RS4 but up to this point he wasn't an Audi fan, who knows this new M3 might just bring him round. |

I'll have to wait for it to come on youtube cause Comcast doesn't have BBC. In any case I can't wait to see it.

Yeh well what happen was Comcast took over Adelphia (Shittiest cable network in America lol) and they have been transitioning for a while now. So I guess eventually we will get it. Or I'll have to pay for premium channels to get it. Either way thanks to Youtube I'll see it.

It gets a bit tedious doesn't it - how he says that he finds German cars "teutonic" and "sterile", "lacking passion.."
And just about any "plucky Brit" or saucy Italian (hell, who gives a flying f*** about daily driveability!) is much more involving than the Germans - whatever (and don't mention the Americans ....) That's his schtick for an audience that in some cases are still re-living WWII ... let's pick up the objectivity, mate! I do love the show - and even Clarkson had to admit the 997 Turbo was faster than a F599 on B roads, and went from 40-60 mph in 1 sec. (yes, ONE)

AT LAST!!!!
CAN'T WAIT!!! About Clarkson... I don't know if you remember the M5 review, but at the beggining the car was crap and then, after he switched to the M mode said that was the best car ever and compared it to the F430. Watch for yourself It's just a "show thing", but BMW's have always received great reviews from the program (almost all of them). That review was really great... I got chills when I first saw it The CSL also had a great critic. Personally I think Clarkson is very talented. He is able to present something in a great way and the best way to prove it is the incredibly good audience and popularity of the show, magazine, videos, etc... Fifth gear can't even compare to Top Gear, and much of that it's because of this guy. I do think that they are doing too much of this stupid tests ("who can build a car-boat" or builing a road in less than 24 hrs or whatever), but the program is just fantastic. And as I said, I have been following the show for all this years (even have them all) and BMW's are always well considered (I can even say they are considered as the gold standars... specially the M3). It's true that Clarkson doesn't like the technology, but as he says "the whole experiencie dominates everything". Of course there is a bias towards some brands... and the classic example would be Porsche (he hates them). Well... the count down till Sunday begins!!! |
