Yea, could've went for the Recaro Pole Positions for less money and saved about 40lbs per seat. They cost less also. If you're going for weight savings this would seem to be one of the better options.

However this interior does look real nice.

WOW

Taking modding to the next level.
I am also curious to know how 200lbs were saved without making major interior changes.
If it can be done and still look that good on the inside.. that is crazy!

congrats by the way!~~

The finishing is not yet complete, these wheels still have to be shot peened etc... the seats do not of course save 100lbs per side, they save only about 20lbs total. The rear seats are refinished with lighter and less padding etc... and that saves another 23lbs I believe. Wheels and tires save another 28 lbs in all four points and brakes another 8lbs. Exhaust etc... in titanium saves about 38lbs. Fly wheel/clutch about 28lbs. Boot lid 11 lbs, new battery back 35lbs, plus a few other goodies here and there for the difference. Engine after all has been said and done is the same except for a lower center of gravity. Anyway, thats sort of the scoop. lol!! Oh, yes, some of you suggest other Recaro seats that would save ALOT more weight, the problem with those is that none had the side impact air bags and I am unwilling to forgo those. You sure could save a lot more weight if one wanted to by removing subwoofers, washer fluid, and so on.

Naturally I will include more pics and things move along.

Agreed. RD does unquestionably great work, but does it really make sense to throw in BMW performance seats and slap a RD logo on it?

I really like the wheels

Clever way to mount the harness bar behind the pillar and hidden right before the rear window
The only other bar I have seen was drilled right into the middle of the seat belt holder and looked terrible

Can I get a price or any info on the harness bar??

Very cool. I'd love to do that to my car but probably never will.

BTW, Servizio Clienti Sportivo actually means Sporty Client Service. I'm very fluent in Italian.

To track the car, won't 245/305 tires promote terrible understeer?

I mean people put 15mm spacers in front on stock wheels, so I imagine with the correct offset it should be possible to put 265 or up to 285 front tires...

The smoked tail lights are not my thing either, remember this black M3 only has the same kit but is not my car. Mine is AW. I will post more pictures late tomorrow so that we can all follow the progress.

For sure if it is not your thing you don´t have to go with the RD logos, I did simply because I didn´t like the BMW Performance logo, you can go with M3 logos, stay with the original or whatever you wish. I found the RD logo a tad different and looks much better than BMW Performance.

Hmm, I wouldn´t really know since it was a package deal. RD would be able to tell you.

Could be a fair enough point, I would add however that this may be a tad different because of weight and dynamics of wheels, tires, adjustable sway bars, brakes and springs among other things that are different from stock. Finally 305s in the rear are necessary because its difficult to put all the power down efficiently and this seams to do it a lot better.

OK giving that a very generous 23 lb for rear seat padding you are at ~160 lb. What about the stuff that makes the car heavier. 200 lb net reduction would be great but again I don't see where it is going to come from.

The wheels are photographed 'as is', out of the mill, nothing done to them, hence the odd finish (it's cutting lubricant). This first set was polished, then shot-peened, and finally glass beeded and clear anodyzed. I will post some pictures of the finished wheel later today.

Some of you have expressed concerns about understeer, but we are also changing sway-bars and suspension, so there is more to tire size to add to the equation. The RS46 needs more than a 295 in the rear, as any of their owners will confirm.

We are planning a shakedown of the car at Willow Springs some time in early September, at which point some of these numbres may change, but you are all welcome to come and take a look at the car firsthand.

If we can swing it, we may try and have some track time for other M3s to compare performance with the RS46 Competizione. If we do, all other M3s are welcome, especially the supercharged ones.

Maybe so, total rear seat wait when removed saves you about 45lbs, these have been weighed. I´ll let you be the judge and don´t wish to argue about it. The list I posted above is not exhaustive and I apologize for it not being so. In any case, I did say 200lbs is a goal and with all things it is pretty close. Which items do you suggest weigh more? The engine weighs no more (and in fact maybe a tad less), seats, drive train, etc... only two add on`s weigh more and are the rear boot lid bar and the B pillar bar. The stock seat belts with its mechanisms will be removed as well for instance as will some other things when I track. You, as all, are more than welcome to visit the car and watch it perform at Willow springs.

My apologies for the delayed responses I have unfortunately been very, very busy!!!

BMW-M-Mexico, I've seen this car getting built and it's fantastic. Congratulations again. I'll definitely be putting those RC-8's on my car in the fall.

One thing I would change - lose the Vorsteiner trunk. Your car is much too modern for E46 knockoffs
