Introductory TRACK day at Queensland Raceway
For new and ongoing Track Events and Dates please see new post
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=739943 Calling on South East QLD and Northern NSW members or visiting members to Queesnland The plan is a 1/2 day out at Queensland Raceway facility for those who are interested in just trying out their car on a proper and one of the safer racetracks. This day is not competitive at all and is going to be for those who just want the experience of driving on a track without taking the higher risks of competitive race driving. There now are very few places available, we are trying to trying to keep the numbers small so that everyone has plenty of time to go at what ever pace they like (there will be most likely 2 or 3 groups depending on experience level) The day is for novices, although everyone will be welcome, first in best dressed. There will be 3 Marshals running the event and a briefing first. Everyone does this at their own risk, there is no insurance and no liability taken. Everyone will have to sign a waiver first Everyone will be required to pay for a AASA racing licence on the day.($20.00 or $55 annual) Helmets (available for hire at $5.00) long sleeves and pants and closed shoes are a requirement of Queensland Raceway. No passengers will be allowed due to liability. Confirmed date Wednesday Aug 29th,afternoon session START 11AM The experience is just sensational and the safest venue at Willowbank as recommended by Queensland Raceways The invoiced cost is $3740 divided by the number of participants (now 20) This is the actual cost of the track, attendance of race driver Doug Chapple and Marshals and excludes hire and licence. There are no profits or charitable donations, this is the straight up cost to be equally shared Please PM me or MFKN3 for further details. Updated Information: The Track booking is now confirmed for August 29th and paid as we have the numbers for the event. It is an 11AM start to allow time for registration and the briefing. Doug Chapple (Race driver) will be giving the brief and personal instruction individually for 5 laps in your own car with you driving for those who wish to avail themselves of this unique opportunity. Questions that have been asked are: Are there wheel changing facilities at QR? Yes there are Will everyone be starting together on a grid? No. Everyone will enter the track in single file with a space between each car so there will be no jostling for position. Drivers will be divided into groups depending on experience and preference. Can I overtake a slower car? Yes you can, but only down the straights, anyone overtaking on a corner or putting any other driver at risk will be asked to leave the event by Queensland Raceways Can the event be timed: It can be at extra cost which involves bringing in a timekeeper. QR have strongly recommended the event not be timed where drivers without track experience are involved as to not put any self imposed or undue pressure on those participants which QR advise, from their experience, will increase the risk of accident - we don't want that, the idea of the day is for everyone to have a relaxed and memorable day for all the right reasons. If you have indicated you would like to attend and not confirmed would you please advise one way or the other so we have some idea of final figures. 11AM will be the entry time so there is plenty of time to register at QR, have the track brief, a bite to eat then on the track at 1pm If you want to come earlier, there is a drift session on in the morning which should make for good viewing. That's cool. You're right about being hooked! I've been down to PI 4 times now! Will keep you posted about the track day. Worst case, I might come down to watch. On the flip side, I'm keen to do a meet up if that is of interest!

Absolutely. Just hope we can get across the line with entries. There is something really great about being able to go to a local venue, meet up with some nice people and be home at the end of the day after having had a real rush. There is a real atmosphere at QR, and the track is very forgiving with lots of wide open spaces to allow plenty of margin. Either way you would be most welcome.

You don't need an M3 to join in, you can drive anything you like. It's just for the experience of driving on a track. One of the guys is going to bring a GTHO Falcon. If you would like to come join in you are welcome in any car
