Look at the lines the M3 driver was taking.....horrible....he didn't even try to pass the Lexus until the last lap..... If the track was dry.....the M3 should beat all of those with ease..

1) BMI/Hot Version "races" are ALWAYS placed on the starting grid based on the vehicles power:weight ratio, ie. 15lbs to 1bhp would be farther up front than a 10lbs to 1bhp car.
2) At the end of the segment they always post the cars fastest lap and a timed trial lap (performed prior to the race and w/o other cars obstructing)... these times (esp. the time trial) are truer to what that car can do given the varying test day conditions. 3) These gentleman are ALL Professional Drivers who compete and win in various motorsport series of auto-racing... their talent/abilities needn't be questioned. 4) [where applicable] Would you try to hit a few more keys to spell Japanese or abbreviate as JPN... the other way is offensive. |

This article shows the E46 M3 out performing the Audi S4 in wet cornering. As the OP said Audi fans will obviosuly call the test rigged... Oh well I liked the article. |

I know from personal experience that quattro aids wet grip but only exiting the corners, during the corner it has no bearing what so ever but you can get back on the throttle a lot sooner. So it depending on the length of the track and the amount of corners as it how big the victory will be for the Audi or any other awd car. P.S. SportAuto did their own wet track test, best do a search and see how much slower the M3/335i is in comparison to the RS4/S5. |

I beg to differ - it was raining when I did Watkins Glen, did my 335i absolutely no favors...
You can hope for good weather, but in the end you drive what you brung, regardless if rain or shine. Edit: And that being said, I think I would have fared lots better if I'd had a set of PS2 or similar over my Pirelli all seasons... |
