How the hell do I play FallOut 3?

So...I've had this game for a while. I'm just running around town looking at a HUGE array of objects you can pick up without having much of an idea of what to do with them, or how to figure out where I'm supposed to go. The action part of the game is not that good compared to a typical FPS.

What are you supposed to do here?

Because it's not a FPS, it's a RPG. Instead if mindless ready, aim, fire.....you have to use your mind and imerse yourself within the story. It's a throw back to how good games used to be vs. the ADD driven shooters. If you are after a fast paced shooter, this is not the game for you. If you enjoy listening to storylines and exploring vast worlds, with some action mixed in, then Fallout is right up your alley.

I haven't played it in many months since I got bored. It started as some guy who woke up with amnesia. I found some young woman and we shot some big lizards, and then I spent hours wandering around town picking up random objects. I think the last thing I did was speak to some cowboy robot. I'll check the wiki later on.

I will say this. I love fallout, but its obvious that it was designed as a PC game and ported to the xbox.

fallout 3 was the first game i bought since counter strike 1.6... i have no idea what i did between those two games...

but fo3 f'n blew my mind away. at first i was like wtf this not true fps and was a little dissapointed. but the more i played, the more i loved the game. the only problem with these types of games are the possible glitches that occur because of its multi missions/people/etc... and i don't know how to do that programming stuff to restart those missions...
