M3 test drive impressions from tuned 335i owner.
Just a short review with some impressions of the car. There aren't really too many words that can describe how amazing that car is.
Alpine white coupe, fully loaded with the 19 inch wheels. Gorgeous. Saw Jerez black in person as well, it is stunning and I love the interplay between the subtle blue and deep black that the paint offers. I would be picking out of a hat to decide between Alpine and Jerez, lol. First off, pretty much completely different feel than the tuned 335i right when you sit in the car and fire it up. I know that is pretty non-descriptive but those who have the car probably know exactly what I mean. Turbos are awesome, especially the 335, but I'm just not going to sit here and say that one is better than the other, but that NA V8 is just sinister if you catch my drift . The 335i is a great car, I love mine, but this M3 is just different. I have no doubt you could mod the 335 (we're talking a lot of mods) to try to get it to compare similarly to the M3. But that's the point, it would be only similar, an imitation of the greatness the M3 personifies. There definitely is a noticeable difference in torque between the two cars though. But enough about the comparison crap. This was a demo car, and subsequently it already had quite a few miles, so there was the "OK" to test the car to its limits. Definitely went over 5,500 rpms . The M3 delivered beyond what I had expected. The throttle response when in its most aggressive setting is outstanding and unrelenting. This car just keeps pulling and pulling, keeping you pinned back in your seat as the engine screams louder and louder. Basically my face = . Full throttle highway pulls, launches from a stop, I was simply mesmerized by the ///M V8. Where the car really made my jaw drop was in the twisties. The car invited high-speed turns, seemingly begging for more. Balance, grip, precision, and connectivity are the words that come to my mind when I try to describe its suspension. The comfort setting is great too. I love my tuned 335i, a world-class daily driver with power and performance, and I will hang onto it until the lease is up, but NOW I definitely know what I am getting when that lease is up... M3, FTW. Last edited by ybbiz34; 03-28-2008 at 07:43 PM.. |

My pleasure! Keeping track of this car from the spy pics, to reading all of the reviews from you and other M3 owners, to finally experiencing the car in the flesh has been quite a journey. No videos, reviews, pictures, etc. really do the car justice. The thing is straight up awesome. Better than expected for sure.

The e92 M3 has a very different feel than the tuned 335. I like my V2 335 so much that I was sure I would keep this car for a long time. Then I got a call from London at BMW Seattle to come test drive the M3; well, 4 test drives later and it is on order. Have to say it is a much more comfortable ride than my e46 M3 was, and yes that engine note is intoxicating. I never really pushed it to the limits, but it is definitely M power. There is no power like.....

Thanks for the Write up! I had a chance to Drive the E92 M3 At my Local Dealer.
A Close friend of mine just started working there and his Dealer got 2 AW's and a Jerez Black as well. Both AW's had FR Interior! The AW's were in the parking lot upstairs where they are stored. I had a chance to drive it around the lot a few times and it felt great! I loved the Power and the way it felt while cornering. Like I said I just drove it in the storage lot but I got somewhat of an Idea of what the Car had to offer! A BIG Difference from my E46 M3! The way you site in the Drivers seat and the way the car feels is just amazing! I cant wait to get mine! Hopefully by July Ill have my Fully Loaded AW/FR Extended with M-DCT!
