No BMWs in Baghdad
Hello, im just here to make a little introduction. I've been reading e90post for quite some time now, and thought I would join up.
Im currently deployed to Iraq, my current duty station is Baumholder, DE. I have had a long time to browse the internet in search of the car I will buy when I return to Germany. Before I deployed I sold my 2001 German Spec Audi S8, it was an amazing ride. So after alot of research, price comparisons, performance potential observation, I decided to pick up an 335i Coupe. I could go into all the details about why, but im sure you all know. Ive learned quite a bit from e90post already, and Im sure I will learn alot more. I'll see you all around. BTW, for all you soldiers out there who want to know. Im a E-4, 11b. I was at FOB Hammer, we just moved to Camp Striker (Boring). Im due home around July 09, 15 month tour. Welcome to the forum, and I think you made a great decision in deciding to purchase a 335i coupe. PS. OPSEC man, OPSEC. Keep the troop movement information off the net. Coming from a former Marine ELINT analyst, you're basically posting OSINT. |

have you ever considered an e9x m3? i don't know if you've got the mod bug or not, but by the time you spend a killing on modding a 335, all you're going to have is a not quite m3. all i'm suggesting is to just think about it. you can get twice the car for not much more...and there are tons of differences between the 2 cars. i don't mean to be an m3 homer (well that would be a lie, naturally ), but just at least check out the m3 and see if that's a better fit. it really is a much better car and you'll definitely feel the same.

I ordered my 335i when I was in Iraq and picked it up a week after I got back to Germany, great choice, what military sales company are you using?
I dont think an E4 really needs a car that cost more than $55,000. Im not saying I didnt think about it before I ordered my 335 but its just too much of a stretch.

E90ice - I wish haha, we have a few at the museum where im stationed.
anmcguire - Thanks man, I understand OPSEC, they have us taking alot of classes now-a-days, mainly because of myspace, facebook, and what not. I didnt break any rules so far. blakepilot - Working on my car is half the fun of it. My friend is getting a brand new '09 M3 straight from Munich for $57k. He can't afford that ride, and I know I cant. Im going to see how much I can get a new '09 335i Coupe through military sales, but I might have to buy pre owned. MDL335i - Thats great! I cant wait till im in your shoes. I most likely will buy pre owned. I was thinking about doing business with Bavarian motor cars out of Vilseck, let me know who you went through. Penn |

oh relax, pal. don't be an idiot just because you can. i made a suggestion that isn't too far off from the truth. if he plans to mod a 335, he should just look at an m3, all i'm suggesting. the money will come out about the same in the end after you suspension mod, etc.

KW V3 coilovers $1850 + labor Swaybars $500 + labor JB3 chip $700 Now you have a great handler mid to high 12 second car. How much does that cost? 15k? You are just another M3 troll. He was asking about the 335, not the M3. Go back to your cave, animal. :finger:

No love between the M3 and 335i owners i guess. personally though if Im going to mod a 335, I would also mod the M3 so I wouldn't really save any money.
SoQuick- Are you going to be in Graf when you get back? Is that why you want to go through Vilseck's Bavarian Motor Cars branch?
