Dinan Pulley Installed **5/17 Update**

Well I finally pulled the trigger on the underdrive pulley kit. My first reaction was to hit the M button and blast off. But I resisted and drove in my normal mode for about 10 miles. Then I hit the button and drove for a few more miles. Here are my initial thoughts. There is a small but noticeable torque gain below 3000 RPM in all modes. So far the biggest difference to me is how the power seems so much more linear. The RPM's run up quick and smooth......I'll give it a few more days and report back with more detail...........Phil

5/17 Update: So after a week of driving I can tell you that the pulley earns it's money north of 6000 RPM. All of you guys that are on the fence about this mod.....man do it! This is a mod you can truly feel as the engine winds up. As I posted after the initial install, the power seems to be evenly distributed throughtout the entire band. You wouldn't think something this small would be noticable, but it is. Even if you don't go Dinan, get something......you won't regret it................Phil

When you compare the stock pulley to the Dinan pulley you immediately notice how much smaller the Dinan pulley is. The aircraft grade billet aluminum looks really good.............Phil

i like mine alot too, that is where i noticed the most gain was above 5k. it really seemed to wind out alot faster and pull harder up top. also the intake i felt most above 5k. the midpipe is where i gained alot down low and more tq. the midpipe and diff are the only 2 mods i have done that have made more performance down below 4k and the 2 combined are awesome. add that to the other little things i have done that helped above 4k and it is a really awesome setup. i highly reccomend the Dinan susp as well

the pulley i think is def money well spent. nice car bro enjoy

Probably the most cost-effective performance mod we can do to our cars.

Installed my MS pulley a while back, never felt a noticeable difference (maybe its just me)....biggest difference I felt was going catless, that was pretty obvious.

If it relieves power by underdriving the power accessories is it still able to handle cold starts with ac on max and the premium audio blasting?
Sounds like it would strain to handle these if it reduces it enough to free up 5-10hp??

This could be true, but I'm sure this was part of the R&D before these pulleys came to market........especially on Dinan's part. Team Dinan does a great job of developing upgrades that don't upset the cars normal characteristics.......Phil

Any of you guys DIY install of the pully? I'm sure I can do it, just need to get the right torque wrench and if there are any tips/cautions/experianced problems anyone encountered. If i pull the trigger, it'll be with the Dinan so they will at least back up the warrenty.

Thanks,
RB

you have to get it installed through an authorized Dinan Dealer in order to have the warranty.

Just installed the Turner pulley in my '09 e92 M3. Took 3 hours and some minor cuts and scrapes but well worth the effort. Engine revs smoother through the lower RPMs. You'll need a torx drivers T20, T25, and T45, and socket sizes 14" and 16". Be careful not to strip the bolt when releasing the tensioners. I came close...

The biggest headache was trying to remove and then reinstall the radiator fan. There are many pinch points so take your time. I snapped off one of the clips.

Good luck and enjoy the mod'ing guys.
