Speeding Ticket Radar Reading

I recieved a speeding ticket in Glen Rock, NJ for 48 mph in a 25. The cop said when I saw him I slowed down to 42. But he gave me a ticket for 48. I think that he did not get a 48 mph reading and just put it down on the ticket.

He took my PBA card and did not give me 1 break. 2nd time they took it in this town w/o giving it back or lessening the charge or giving me a warning.

Is there a way to get a reading and print-out before I go to court to see how the cop got my speed and what my options are?

48, or even 42 in a 25mph zone is pretty fast.

I would imagine its 25 for a reason, ie area with people around etc.

Imagine if a kid runs out at you doing 48. They wouldnt stand a chance.

At 25 the stopping distance is MUCH less and even if you were to hit them at 25 they stand a much greater chance of surviving or not being injured too bad.

Hitting a child at 40mph there is an 80% chance they will DIE.
Hitting a child at 30mph there is an 80% chance they will LIVE.

You do the math.

I did a quick google on PBA card and found this write up. It's a pretty interesting read, and talks briefly about proper conduct in utilizing your PBA card. I suggest reading it.

You can look at the gun when he clocks it but I doubt there is a read out afterwards. If you do not agree with the citation you should not sign it in the first place. There are a lot of things you have a chance on catching them on if you can take it to court.

Thanks for the advice. i will ask for a no points offense, see what happens.

the 25mph area i was in is a county road well travelled and varies from 40 to 25 depending on the municipality. it is near a commercial area.

there is a middle school near my house with a 25mph on a small road and under the sign it says: when children present then goes back to 35mph. go figure.

maybe i should play it safe and tell them i will stay at least 10mph under the speed imit just to be safe. imagine somene driving 15 in a 25?

Signing the ticket isn't an admission of guilt. Likewise, not signing the ticket will end up putting you in a situation similar to those videos that have been floating around the internet lately about cops tazer'ing and cuffing poeple for traffic violations.

So if you take Hawkeye's suggestion... my suggestion for you would be to bring your own camera and wire-tap yourself.
