not for all of August. i think it is about 10 days. if you look at the blackout dates when you cannot tour the manufacturing facility during your ED, i would say those are the days the assembly line is down.

i got the impression that when you get the VIN about a 7-10 days after the production number, then you can enter that on the website and get info. i think you need the VIN from what I have read, not the production number. if i am wrong, i surely want to know and look up my vehicle since i have a production #.

What does the production number tell you? The month/week your car's going into production?

The system will work with a production number instead of a VIN. The 1-800 number is typically more up-to-date than Owners Circle, though.

I input my production number into the BMW USA site under the My BMW section (you have to sign in or create and account first). In this section, there is an Add/Remove Vehicles subsection. I entered my production number and this is the result:

"Only new vehicles can be added by production number. If your vehicle is currently in production, it is possible it has not yet entered our system."

When I called 1-800-831-1117, and entered my production number, i got this: "vehicle is scheduled for production with no confirmed production date yet."

Anyone know when the 2013's will start production?

Well, thank you. How ironic that a production number doesn't give you a production date

On a sidenote, now my dealer is saying there's a chance I sneak into the end of July

Interesting. I just sent an email to my Sales Advisor to see whether he knows when the 2013 M3's will begin production. I presume our will be in the first batch. I'll post what I find out.

I ordered my M3 from Autobhan Fort Worth on Tuesday, my salesperson placed the order yesterday. He told me that the last part of the VIN is the number that you enter to track it - he said he won't have that number until the car enteres production sometime in July.

I placed my order for a ED on an E92 M3 on 6/9/12, order placed in bank on 6/11/12, and received a production number today (6/15/12).

My estimated production date is not till 9/16/2012 and requested ED date is 10/1/12.

Should I be worried about it not being finished in time? My vacation time is pretty inflexible.

Also any guesses when I should know for sure about the completion date?

I just got the call from Francesca. They received a domestic allocation, so I now have a production number!

1) Order entered into the order bank on May 24
2) Production number issued June 21
3) Domestic delivery

This whole process started with an order, application and deposit on April 5th. I have to remind myself that good things are worth waiting for.

No. These people are West Germans. They will make it happen.

You can track through the 1-800 number with a production number only.

But so far, I haven't heard of anybody getting a production date for a domestic delivery 2013.

My sales adviser (who is one of the kings of ED, and a German) thinks my production date will be in August. We'll see . . . cue Tom Petty . . . .

I ordered my car in early May and got a production number on May 14. My SA says that mine should enter production early July, although tracking through the website or over the phone doesn't provide any official date.
