How many of you have replaced AC Evap more than once?
My car is at the dealer for an evaporator replacement (3rd party warranty!). Wondering how many of you have replaced this more than once. I have a 2011 (5/2010 build) with only 38K miles and mine's in for #1. Wondering if this will rear its head again, likely after my 3rd party warranty is up?
Thankfully this should pay for the warranty itself, everything else will be gravy. This is my first claim. |

If not expect roughly the same performance. Time of 6 years is probably a bigger factor than mileage. I'm hoping the design was updated prior to final MY 2013. Although similar problems existed on the E46 generation and BMW didn't figure it out. |

I've never had to replace one in any E9x I've ever worked on. Nor have I heard of anyone around here replacing one. Not really seen much of it online either. I've got a stack of them sitting here in inventory and nobody is buying them, so I'm assuming the part demand is very low. I'm going to go out on a limb and call yours a fluke.

Maybe it's an issue in some areas but I don't see it being an epidemic. I've been working professionally with these cars since they came out and I've never once had a customer even ask about an evap core replacement. I'm not trying to downplay your issue I'm just saying it's not something that comes up often. I hope your situation clears up nicely. |

I haven't personally experienced an issue, but when I bought mine the dealer's service history showed it was replaced twice. 1st time at 15k miles and 2nd time at 36k miles. It is a 2010 currently with 64k miles. Owned in AZ 1st owner and now in CA.

I replace an evaporator in an E9X chassis car at least 3 times a month. They all seem to leak in the bottom corner near the drain and the easiest way to find a slow leak is dye. you'll see it in the drain tube if your evap is bad. Im finding that more of the 07-09's right now, and expect that next year will be the 10's and so on.

I'm on my 3rd one (bought new in '08 and now has 66k miles) and it has a slow leak due to a supposed crack in the evac cooler. Rather than dishing out for the ungodly expensive repair yet again, I just recharge it myself once a year.
If I remember right, the first one I replaced under warranty just after the first year. The second one was around year 4 outside of warranty ('12). Trying to remember, but it was a $2000 bill. The next time it started leaking was a couple years later. I've had to charge the system once; $40 with one of those cans. I figure I can keep charging it for the next few decades... |

Got my car back yesterday with the new evaporator. Dealer charged my warranty provider $3254 and me a measly $56. Very glad to have purchased the warranty now.
They appear to have done a nice job with the dash removal/install. No scratches on anything and so far no rattles. Nice to have a working AC again. |

Yup, on my 3rd A/C evap core for my 2011 E90. First one lasted until ~70k miles. The second one barely lasted a few months. Frustrating, but very thankful for my extended warranty.

Mine is National Auto Care. It was sold to me by the credit union I got my initial loan from. Not sure if you can buy direct or not to be honest - I don't see anything on their website to indicate that you can. My 2011 at the time I bought it (2/2016) had 26K and I got a 5 year/60K exclusionary (Platinum) warranty for $3100. This one claim already puts me in the green with it.
