a lot of cops around lately
Last few days, i am seeing lots of cops around, hiding with their radars on.
last night, I was going back home (edgewater) from manhattan via lincoln tunnel and couldnt believe my eyes. there were 9 police cars with their lights off, one policeman was holding a radar gun and the others were hunting drivers at lincoln tunnel's nj side. once they pull over the cars, they ask drivers to turn their lights off too in order not to attract attention to others... be careful these days, they are all out... |

The new thing is that the municipalities are passing regulations to declare stretches of roads "safe zone" so that they can increase the regular speeding ticket fine amounts two to three times. I got hit twice in the last month after no ticket in 16 years! One was given at 9PM for driving 26mph in a 25mph school zone! The ticket is not the big deal but the insurance premium hike kills you in the long run! |

to the guy who got a 26 in a 25 ticket, i think you should fight that. i don't know that 1mph over can stand up in court in light of calibration issues etc. what a total BS ticket

I will definitely fight it. It is still 2 points in the records even with 1mph over the limit. I contacted my lawyer and I will at least get it reduced to a non-point violation if nothing else works. Insurance kills you here in NJ if you have points in your record.
