a lot of cops around lately

Last few days, i am seeing lots of cops around, hiding with their radars on.

last night, I was going back home (edgewater) from manhattan via lincoln tunnel and couldnt believe my eyes. there were 9 police cars with their lights off, one policeman was holding a radar gun and the others were hunting drivers at lincoln tunnel's nj side.

once they pull over the cars, they ask drivers to turn their lights off too in order not to attract attention to others...

be careful these days, they are all out...

They are out everywhere in NJ!
The new thing is that the municipalities are passing regulations to declare stretches of roads "safe zone" so that they can increase the regular speeding ticket fine amounts two to three times.
I got hit twice in the last month after no ticket in 16 years! One was given at 9PM for driving 26mph in a 25mph school zone!
The ticket is not the big deal but the insurance premium hike kills you in the long run!

I live in Hoboken and I deal with this BS on a weekly basis. Sometimes during the week I am officiating hockey games that end late so I have seen these speed traps by the Port Authority Police numerous times. Accept these guys are using LIDAR NOT RADAR. I'm wise to the situation already so I NEVER speed there. I believe the speed limit is 25MPH there!! It's pretty simple what is going on. NJ/NY are looking to slash budget. Since the PAPD is supported by both states a means to justify there existence is need. I guess there job of making sure our tunnels, bridges, and mass transit systems are safe and secured has taken a back stage now. PAPD is one of the highest paid LE agencies around for it's size. This isn't a safety issue at this point rather more like public harassment/extortion.

I will definitely fight it. It is still 2 points in the records even with 1mph over the limit. I contacted my lawyer and I will at least get it reduced to a non-point violation if nothing else works. Insurance kills you here in NJ if you have points in your record.

+1 on that. They are so hungry for money, a friend of mine was almost getting a jay walking ticket in East Orange!
