911 Turbo, Wow,
Ok, so interesting night. Tonight, I was feeling like a nice Tommy's burger so I decided to head that way. As I'm coming to a stop on Burbank Blvd, I pull up next to a awesome blue 911 turbo. I heard a little rev come from the 911 and saw as he inched forward a bit. I know my M3 had no chance but I dont care, so I hit the "M" button and wait for the light. Light turns green and we (or I thought we) both floored it. I launch and in first gear I'm a good car length ahead of the 911 Turbo. Now I'm wondering why because with AWD, I know that there is no way I could beat a Turbo out of the hole. Then I hear the sound of a jet engine (or the 911's turbos) as the Turbo blows by me like I'm standing still as I'm shifting into 2nd gear!!!! He was obviously toying with me!!!! But that is an awesome car!!! The way it looked and the way it sounded as it dusted me... We then stop at the next red light and he had a huge smile on his face!!! I told him that he had a bad ass car and gave him the thumbs up....

I dont know about Porsches... All I saw was Turbo on the rear as it flew by me. It had a spolier, ducts behind the doors, vents or something on the rear bumper, huge wide rear tires, and I remember seeing a huge gauge pod on the driver side A pillar.... Besides that, it was stupid fast... Ha....

Probably he didn't know you are going to race up until he sees you launching like crazy.

Two cars I've had some fun with while out driving the turbo that were impressive. GTR and a ZR1. Had nice runs with both, there was no blowing anyone away. The GTR launched HARD. Lots of fast cars on the road these days.

The 997 Turbos are so fast. When I see one behind me at the track I get ready to let them by, unless the driver is subpar.

The new 911 Turbo S hits 60mph in 2.9 sec. The new 2011 M3 hits 60mph in 4.7 sec. One is $70k, the other around $190k (turboS). I saw a 2007 turbo with 7k miles running for $93k at a dealership by me last summer, I was really considering it...

You should let him by even with a subpar driver. Actually it happened to me other day at MidO... It was an OK driver, I was much faster in turns than him but I couldn't keep him behind me. He had Turbo S My puny track car can't handle those 555 horsies roaring behind me. Pointed him by and waved.

They are seriously quick cars in either a 996 or 997 form. The 996tt is IMO the absolute most bang for the buck car out there right now. 120k new, 40k used with 50k miles on it and the bulletproof GT1 engine... heck of a car for the money.

haha awesome, good for nodding and having some fun with the situation! Few weeks ago a Jaguar XKR flys by me just to get stuck at a light right next to me a few blocks up. He gives the nod, we let it rip, by 2nd gear in the z06 I was 5 cars ahead of him. Not sure if he botched his launch, but game over. There was no nod or tip of the hat in return
