Aftermarket parts on insurance?

Hey guys...

I recently bought a set of 20" BBS wheels which are by far the most expensive wheels I ever bought.
I was just wonder if you guys add certain aftermarket parts to your insurance policy? Because I'm thinking of adding the wheels to mine since they are a $6k investment.

I have my Akra and my BBS LM's on my policy. Only costs about 100 bucks a year for about 10K of coverage for them. Worth it IMO.

I have coverage for my wheels on my WRX. I think for progressive and geico its like accessory coverage. Forget wheel locks someone could easily open those up.

I was wondering how do you get coverage for your aftermarket exhaust? I call up geico and they don't cover exhaust.

I am pretty sure you can add anything car related to your insurance, certain things will make rates go up more than others.

Honestly, I never knew you could insure aftermarket mods. I'm going to look into this after I get my new wheels!

I would think any part on your car could be insured if you want. Maybe not as part of the auto claim but as a seperate rider. Heck models can insure their face or butt if they want.

Meaning you have a rider for them, or that it's included in your normal coverage without any additional expense?

State Farm covers all the parts. Just keep copies of your purchase invoices and a few photos.

You can but in the long run I didn't see any value. The one time my car got stolen with $5000 in stereo parts and a set of $5000 rims I ended up jumping up 3 classes of cars and could care less if I lost $10k. The insurance gave me a huge check and moved up with my $20k lump sum to a $90k car back in the 1990s. lol Just make sure your car is paid off here kids.

If my M3 got stolen now I would move up to an Audi R8 or Lamborghini Gallardo in all seriousness so for me I won't waste money on it.

Everyone is different and all insurance agencies are different. With Geico for Volks insurance is like an extra $8-$9 a month.
