tire question
Is it bad to run one new tire along with one with 50% wear? I heard this is bad for the differential.

Bingo. It might also cause some funkiness with DSC since the speed sensors are going to see very different rotational rates. Might also cause excess heat in the LSD because it is a speed-sensitive unit.

Sorry to hijack the thread. But I have almost new tires on the rears with less than 1k miles. I got a puncture on one and cannot be repaired. Can I just replace the one since the other is nearly new or should I still replace both?

something like 50% and 100% like the scenario the OP posted isn't ideal.

You can probably just replace the one.

I had a puncture on one of the rears and replaced only one. The old one had only 10K miles on it. It was fine when both were still relatively new. Now that one is almost worn out and the other one has some tread left, the car is twitchy under acceleration.
So not ideal, but I wasn't gonna replace a perfectly good tire with only 10k at the time.

1/8 as in 4/32nds? Likely not. Think about what 1/8 measures to in terms of overall rolling diameter. You can be off 1/8 by having a 5 psi difference between the two tires.
Also, are you measuring tread depth properly? You will realize inner channel/rib, middle channel/rib, outer channel/rib measurements can vary by 2/32nds
