Just got an email from my SA, stating we're only getting one allocation - first come first serve... whatever, totally not interested in buying a swan song version of the e92.

It's so disappointing to see what's going on at BMW right now. Unfortunately sales keep going up, but I wouldn't be surprised if the typical BMW enthusiast looks elsewhere when buying a new car. I know I will.

BMW seems to have forgotten what made them great and are only thinking about selling more and more to the masses. Their new slogan should be: BMW the new Toyota!

A unique color would have been nice, i.e. not something typically ordered via BMW Individual (Fire Orange).

While it's really disappointing that there's nothing unique about this edition, it seems like a decent value when you consider that it comes with the PSW, BMW Performance splitters, BMW Performance spoiler, M Peformance exhaust, and BMW Individual paint. The fact that it can be optioned any way you want it is a nice touch.

So all in all, I like this better than the Edition, Competition Edition, and M Peformance Edition models that have been announced to date. Still, it's sad that we never got an E9X in the US with the S65B44 or any other unique performance bits.

So the only special thing is the alcantara seats? Everything else seems to be an option, Individual, or BMW Performance.

What a waste. If it's going to be a special edition give it something new, like better brakes with cooling ducts, 20 extra horsepower, and a 186mph limiter.

why not just pay extra for special paint and do ED or PCD.

I guess they will have a hard time selling 200 of these.
No more EDs for M3s available. Recent development. See threads in Buying, Selling, etc.

I agree. This is LAME!

Who is with me in saying that the only real special edition that us enthusiast would like to see at this point is an E92 CRT edition model (Without the ginormous price tag!)?

Thumbs down

If I could get one delivered in Europe, I'd gladly buy it. But just like the 1M they won't make enough for regular customers to get their hands on one. Might as well try to get a Mondo poster for all the good this does me.

There are no alcantara seats. Those are just the manual cloth seats.

You could very easily outfit a MY13 E92 M3 to be exactly identical to this edition for a similar price, and do European Delivery or Performance Center delivery.

There's nothing about this car that can't be had from the factory or any dealer.

Why do I feel you could build this out cheaper just going individual?

Except the color and the wheels. I've asked multiple European sales offices and none of them can order Individual options.

There are no more EDs for M3s at all not just this model.

It's really tough in the US to offer anything special bc of the need to crash test for different seats, the need for EPA for different engine etc. BMW is at the mercy of those things and if they offered 200 of these at $125,000 with different seats how many people would buy it?

There are no plug and play brakes for the E92 for fitment that I am aware of from the factory (GTS brakes aren't). Can't do the CRT hood (crash testing) so what can be done? Limited editions like this.

Out of all of them this is by far the most enthusiast oriented- it is in not a single package with no options this can be built as you'd like and it comes with all the M Performance parts from the factory- the exhaust is almost $5k installed, add the install and parts of the rest of the stuff and this is actually a value and it is Factory.

We must have missed the memo when the M in M3 was changed to Marketing.

EXACTLY. you guys ask why? because they can. And they can make a lot of money off a "special limited edition" car as only 200 will be produced. BMW is about making profits. They don't have to make anything new for this car which means they will profit more and here's the real kicker.... people will buy all 200! so shouldn't we be asking... why not? from a business standpoint.

I also thought this car will get the 4.4L motor from the M3 GTS and CRT...

The wheels are just standard 359Ms that can be had anywhere. If you want the black 359Ms, you can buy them from getbmwmparts.com.

As for the Individual paint, that's just Fire Orange and unless something has changed in the last month, it can still be ordered through dealers like Steve Thomas BMW (GOLFFRR on this forum).

Edit: I see you're in Germany, so maybe the process of ordering Individual options is different over there...
