Yikes!
Exactly...you hit the nail on the head. This is copy and pasted right off the Dinan website.

"Dinan’s standard matching new car warranty coverage does not apply to racing components. Requires Dinan Racing software D903-40MX"

I forgot about Autowest at first. Funny, when inquiring about dinan software BJ quoted me $100 more for the software and 1.5 hr labor as opposed to .5 hr labor to program said software. Maybe, Autowest is nt so bad afterall?

just curious why you didn't just go with the Dinan midpipe?? was it bc you needed cats?? or you just liked the akra one better?? i know it wasn't bc of price bc akra is very pricey and more expensive then dinan

i have the dinan midpipe and couldn't be happier, great power, great sound, no drone

Akra makes more power in their full system and it's also much lighter.

I wanted a light, good looking system that wasnt too loud and made power. Dinan makes power (mainly due to cat elimination) but smells, is not titanium and imo the catback looks like ass

have you actually driven in one with the midpipe or just read that ?? i have the Dinan midpipe and i barely smell it. only at a stop light with the windows down do you get a little smell but nothing bad at all

as far as looks that is a personal thing, i personally like the look of my Dinan one and it was far cheaper then the Akra one

to each there own

I've heard the the ESS tune eliminates the CEL on the full Akra.

So did anyone actually end up pairing the Akra system with the Dinan SW???
I have the Akra rear section and Im planning on getting the midpipe soon and was hoping to pair it with the Dinan Racing SW to add some HP and clear the CEL light.
Thanks.

Yep, if you want to mod your car to this degree, the previously mention "no-guarantee" attitude is the right attitude. If there's ANY way for them not to cover, they won't - you probably know this from your other life experiences with insurance coverage and this is no different.

Don't drop the Akro mid for Dinan, that's nuts. Akro is the bomb ... not the firecracker. The software you have will probably work fine, just get the Akro CEL deleter (now available from IND) if you don't want to go with the big-name flashers.

I had my Dinan dealer inquire about this because im sick my cel light. He got back to me and said that yes they can do it. You shoulden't have a problem with getting it. If you do, talk to Chris at Dinan.

I'll give Dinan a call and see what they say.
I also want to know if the Dinan software performance mods will have any ill effects with the Akra system, or will it only make more power(good thing).

I already spoke to Dinan regarding this exact thing and the answer was; Yes they will sell the software without the purchase of the Dinan Midpipe. I was told by Dinan's Canadian Sales Rep that although they can not guarantee compatibility with some other manufacturers exhaust, the software should work fine with the any system .

I arranged with my dealer for the Dinan software to be flashed on my car before I take delivery!

Nice, I will most likely use this set up then.
Should give a nice little power increase also with the Akra set up.

Your numbers are inaccurate! Dinan midpipe puts out 20Hp and the rear section 6hp. But you can't add those numbers! You would have to dyno to get the cumulative power gains.

Actually For what you get for Dinan $5000.00 is not much, fake tips, very little weight savings. Akra is $623.00 more and you get alot for the money functional tips 5olbs weight savings!

Dinan also confirmed to me that the stage II software would work fine with an Akra full exhaust. They also confirmed that the stage II software carries the same warranty coverage as stage I.

I am also looking at the full Akra with Dinan stage II software. It seems like both would fit nicely together. Please do a before and after Dyno to confirm compatibility.
(I would do this but I will not get my 2011 M3 back from euro deliver till mid summer)
