Car online reader catches glimpse of undisguised E93 M3

Theres nothing that unexpected here, M3 face and body, combined with the E93's folding hardtop. Although some people have asked for a soft-top for the performance advantage, I don't think the new V8 engine will have any problem at all with the little extra weight of the hardtop. Whats more interesting to see is what kind of extra body reinforments are made to the car to handle the extra power and performance demands. We want a rigid car!

Yeah... it's whispering, but she's not talking to me yet, either.

With M-DCT and all the good stuff, you're looking at roughly $83-$85K USD, after dest. and the gas guzzler tax.

Maybe, maybe not. Sure it will be heavier. BMW has already stated that weight management will be a key thing they will work on for the E93. Again, most of us are not too thrilled at where the E92 M3 ended up but it could have been way worse without the extensive effort BMW did put into weight management.

Hopefully when this car shows up its as good looking as the coupe. I will admit there are a few angles of the E93 that I dont really like, but still love the aspect of being able to see everything while driving.

True...anything is possible.

But I would think it would be difficult and very $$$ to cut weight from a retractable hardtop.

Love It!

I love it! This is the one I'm holding out for (which means I have a little under a year to wait). Once you own a convertible, it's difficult to imagine driving anything else. I still love my 330cic, but her days are numbered.

I'm so glad this version of the E93 is going to have black-out trim framing the windows (instead of the chrome the 328i / 335i E93 variants have). It makes the top seem literally more seamless. The cut-lines in the chrome surrounds on the standard E93 look really obvious from the side. The black framing hides this a bit more (at least in this picture, and the spy shots I've seen of the E93 M3 being tested on the Nurburgring).

Can't wait to see more pics as this thing gets closer to production.
