I went for a M3 test drive today.....

and ended up buying one

I've always had reasonable fast manual cars until my latest car which was a sensible family car, E60 530D, was a nice car but not the most exciting in the world

had been planning to get a 535D m-sport until last week I noticed the 4 door M3 (2 young kids sigh)

Anyways the test drive was a blast, the car just seems to have infinite levels of power and grip, my brother was along too and wasn't paying attention (playing with i-drive) when I left the 30mph and nailed it, the look on his face as it roared through second then third was priceless, I think he got the scare of his life

the m-button was great too, a sports car on the back roads but take it on the dual carriageway and it's just as refined as the E60

anyways after we both had a drive and got back to the dealer you can't help having a big grin on your face.

Dealer was able to take the order for a 4-door on the bmw system with all the options even though the bmw website doesn't let you do this yet.

Went for
silverstone II
Black Leather
Aluminium trim
EDC
Rear & side blinds (for the kids)
Floor mats
Storage pack
Front seat heating
PDC front
Bluetooth
USB audio

I'll take the car anytime after march but might have to wait until may/june

Did you talk to the dealer about the availability of DCT?

I spoke to them today about it, still no official word. Though I suspect there could be news this coming Monday the 3rd when more info on allocations is due.

I didn't ask about it but the dealer also said he's waiting for allocations any day for the 4 door saloon, until he gets that he can't confirm my delivery

Btw, take a look at the Hamann 599 before you buy the F430. What hamann did to that car is incredible.

That's awesome, congrats.

I can't believe that there are even M3's on the lot to be test driven. I doubt you'll see that state side for a long time. Even towards the end of the E46's life it was hard to get a test drive.

With the E46 every (almost?) dealer got a smurf blue demo car, so at first test drives were easy to get, unless the dealer sold it outright (which was discouraged).

They got their current demo car on the 10th september I think and that week someone came in and asked if he got buy it, they agreed and the guy is paying full list on a 3 month old demonstrator, he gets it 10th december. The dealer said after that it would be unlikely there'd be any more demonstators for a while as they have just had 5 cars so far nd he has 20+ on a waiting list
