I want one
Nice watch! But that is a huge mistake by the watch manufacturer
That is a big No No and one that will stop me from going to buy one right now because it really is useless at night

Nice looking watch! I agree that's a huge design flaw.

Most Swiss mechanical watches use ETA produced movements.

There are less than a handful of well-known watch brands that produce in-house movements.

The picture is dark, but is that a BMW branded Bell & Ross?

Designed by the ///M Division Deblom Engineers (Deblom equals PhD ~ then you knew this right ).

BTW the watch has 1/8 HP can be modified to 1/4 HP with mod's available from the ///M Division ...

I don't understand this. BMW pays another company to make a watch for them with the BMW logo on it. That is it's only connection to BMW. I would rather buy a swatch watch with a swatch logo on it than a Rolex with a BMW logo on it. BMW doesn't make watches.

Its actually quite simple to understand. Enthusiasts like to represent their marque. A lot of high end watches have car manufacturer watches, but they generally still represent their own logo on them as well.

BMW doesnt make shirts, toys, pens etc but still sell them (and a lot of them)a

Nice gift OP - very thoughtful of your wife and daughters!

You would be very surprised how many watch BRANDS don't make their own movements. It is a fine art and very expensive, therefore many companies buy their movements from the same company and then do the rest.

Op, I think I'd stop by a dealership to see if they have one to compare and see if its the same...maybe yours is just one that slipped by the QA folks.

Hey Mike - This style is all the same. If you look at the hands on this watch anywhere online they ALL have RED printed on them. The RED does not glow. Then you look at any other watch on BMWUSA and the hands have white on them. I would imagine that the white portion glows in the dark.

Nice looking watch. I think the glow in the dark hands come as part of the ZCP package. Lucky for you that your wife got the watch with the technology package or you wouldn't have any hands on the watch at all.

It's a Swiss quartz movement made by Ronda. It's not a Ball or Bell & Ross made watch, rather, it's made by a third party for BMW. It's a nice looking watch!

Nice looking piece. Shame about the hands not glowing.

Just curious, did you get the watch with 6MT or DCT?

Thanks!

I have not worn a watch in nearly 23 year so this is taking a little getting used too .

The issue at hand is although BMW doesn't make the watch, they are involved in who gets to put their trademarks on their watches. If they allowed the manufacturer to put their logo on a watch that can only be seen during daytime it goes a long way for the arguments that BMW is becoming a branding company and not a company of quality.

In the case of the OP I'm sure he's pissed that he can only portray the enjoyment of an otherwise thoughtful gift in the daylight. I bet it would suck having to remove said wonderful gift when he and his wife go out to a venue that is not well lit...

Why? Because some people are not being serious to the thread?
