M3 GTS - bore & stroke ?
I am researching and thinking about to put a M3 4.4 stroker kit together by using OEM parts .
One alternative for this are M3 GTS parts. This engine has a 4.4 displacement, in case the bore would be 92mm and stroke 82.7mm this would be feasible over any other product currently available to stroke the S65. However, the GTS engine is not available yet so I might be quite early with my question. Eugen |

all said and done it might be cheaper to get the Dinan 4.6 motor. unless you can get all the parts and do all the work yourself. all the R&D is done on there part so if you can do the install all your paying for is the motor from them. might be awhile bf you can get your hands on the GTS parts. they only made 150 of those cars right??

It's a limited edition. I doubt they will only make 150 cars, never saw a number. However, BMW would have to provide spare parts.
M62 parts ( 4.4, e.g. in the late 745i ) also seem to be feasible. However, this would not be my first choice especially in case i would need a custom made or customized crankshaft. Dinan 4.6 is always an option, in case they keep the current price, very nice engine. IMO stroking the engine should be combined with a planned engine overhaul or a major engine repair. Once you are there you should have choices . JP/J&E forged pistons ( user definable compression ratio ) - Pauter conrods - OEM M3 GTS crankshaft & OEM bearings would be very nice. |

yeah i agree on the spare parts i just wonder how easy it would be to get ahold of them and would be scared to see the price since the car was like 150k usd.
i read somewhere it was only 150 cars, i could be wrong keep us posted as if it turns out to be a cheap alternative to Dinans 4.6 then guys who know what there doing can do this for alot cheaper

I applaud your determination in pursuing this dream, but I think you better come up with a better plan brother. Hell will literally freeze over, before you get your hands on any (individual) internal engine components from the 4.4 liter stroker engine. (in the limited-edition GTS) BMW will not ship any individual engine components out to dealers (like a stroker crankshaft), to any GTS owner if a problem arises. They will ship out an entirely new 4.4 engine as a replacement. (conditional upon the release of the original 4.4 liter powerplant) There is no way they will ship out the parts you're after, without double checking the owners identification, the VIN, and possibly a signed document to minimize fraud/illegal acquisition of the GTS parts. External body/trim parts? Perhaps... Internal engine components like a stroker crankshaft? Not gonna happen... I'm sorry to have to tell you this my friend, but... Using M62 parts from the 7-series cars isn't going to work either.

If you're curious as to why Dinan chose a certain path (in regards to their 4.6-liter stroker build philosophy), I can help clarify a few things for you. (about what drove those decisions) I got a chance to speak with their engine builder at length. PM for details...

^ Piston speed & some more space to optimize the heads - my guess. That's why I'm really interested in the bore & stroke of the M GTS. And what kind of pistons / rods M-GmbH uses. Being able to keep the bore stock will have advantages, like already mentioned here.
