I am afraid that Porsche's don't do it for me, because they are so expensive in Australia only old farts drive them and that is something I am just not ready to be labeled with yet.
I am young at heart not a old fart!

yes. a 911 turbo is $126k, yes I'd rather have the m3 over 911 turbo.
I also need the back seats and doors so price aside I still take the M3.

Heat00 I agree with you to each his own. Even though I would disagree with your choice, I wonder if the offer was truly genuine would you still hold your position. However, if someone wants to offer me the decision between my C63 and a new 911 Turbo just let me know. I'll even include my AMG hat in the deal!

I've driven M3's, C63, IS-F, and bought the 911. The why is always a personal thing, and not always because one is necessarily better than another. One thing that definitely swayed me away from the M3 is down here it is $40-50k MORE than a spec-for-spec IS-F. Now I would not buy an IS-F but that's a huge difference. For the same money as a well-speced M3 I bought a 3000km old 2008 Carrera. Not everyone would do that and I have to say I still look at M3's when we pass in the street. But am I happy with the 911 - bloody oath! |

lol, I'm not bashing the 911 or C63 at all.
Just my opinion here, my partner has a brand new 911 turbo but I have not driven it yet. however, given the additional $67,000, I would probably take the M3 over the $127,000 911 turbo. how much faster can it possibly be? not $67,000 worth imo. lol as for the C63, like I said above, until I saw one drive by me, I didn't think twice about it.... but that sound truly is unreal..... I think all in all if you have a C63, 911 turbo, or M3... you can't lose all great machines!!

I have to admit before I went to the “Dark Side” I weighed the cost of the maintenance on the C63 Vs M3. While I realize over any 3 or 4 year period it will probably cost you more money all around to operate the C63 then M3 (In terms of maintenance, tires, even gas) I knew the potential costs I might encounter and accepted it. Bottom line “you got to pay to play” is what it comes down to it. If you can’t afford the operating costs of the vehicle you can’t afford the car. Actually tends me wonder what some of the 18-21 year crowd do when it comes time for new tires or an oil change when they drive these cars. Nevertheless I have been monitoring the tread life of the rear tires of my C63 and it’s not looking good at all. I have less than 6K miles on my car and I can see by Christmas maybe having to replace them with PS2’s. I definitely will go with 275/35/R18 in the back next time hoping that maybe that will help me put down the power better in 1st and 2nd gears along with improving the handling.

Well in terms of the maintenance I agree with you the M3 cost less. However I can’t agree with you right now about the resell values. The old C55 Vs E46 M3 comparison is invalid now in terms of resale values. The C63 Vs E92 M3 gap has been narrowed or bridged depending on which car magazine or persons opinion you ask. I would think this will affect resale values along with the fact there are just not as many C63’s being produced when compared to E92 M3 or E90 M3. Even though maybe its possible in time you might be right, but as of now the argument the E92 M3 let alone the E90 M3 (both the coupe and sedan won’t have identical resale values) will resale more then the C63 can be valid. It could be possible a used E92 M3 will be worth more (excluding options) then a C63 but not necessarily an E90 M3. Also don’t forget the 6.2L M156 engine has been around and been production (debuted in ML63 AMG) much longer then the 4.0L S65B40. Just from comparing the threads on this board and the Mercedes forums its seems a lot more M3 owners have experience major problem with there engine compared to C63 owners who for the majority have had small check engine light issues due to cam sensors. Finally I don’t disagree that BMW makes a good product and overall the car should last for sometime.

I have both, the M3 & AMG. The M3 is a fun car to drive but if I am driving down a straight Hwy I take the AMG, its more relaxed and sedate for a day out with the family. The M3 is more for spirited driving. These are two different types of cars and for me the M3 is track motivated and the AMG Hwy orientated with a little luxury.
