That Autocar test ...

I've scanned this in and will attempt to post now .....

Incidentally, the yellow marker pen was mine. Highlighting areas that I find hard to comprehend/disagree with/agree with/etc etc.

Steve Sutcliffe - Touring car driver

And as a matter of interest, Mr Sutcliffe did one race in a Lexus in the 2001 BTCC. Hardly makes him a former touring car driver IMHO ....

I find it amusing they give the RS4 multiple points for being more practicle because of 4 doors. Is that really a big concern for people in this segment?

But as we all know, the real competitor to the RS4 is the E90 M3. We'll see how that competition plays out as well. Not much doubt on my end.

Yes, I realize that. But people who are looking at the E92 M3 aren't overly concerned with having two extra doors. I just don't see how that is something to award points towards with the comparison.
It's like saying if BMW built a car similar to the R8, but had four doors, that it would be more practicle and therefore be awarded points based on the extra room in a comparison of the two.

It is like awarding points in a sport car comparison for having a windshield... well not quite that bad but similar.

Talking about getting points for having 4 doors, this article contains another piece of data that settles this discussion once and for all: the M3 is the ultimate winner since it gets better combined mileage than the RS4. I am walking over to put down my deposit now...
