why is the blacked out look so disliked? what gives...

I have a Jet Black M, I know im going with the 359s but now deciding on black or silver. After hours of research i realized alot of people dislike the murdered out look. At this point i got back and forth about which color to get. I do like the look a lot. Just want to hear it from others, why isnt the black on black not getting love anymore?

Different strokes for different folks.

My car is Jerez black. I personally don't think black wheels looks good with it. Cars need to have some visual contrast to pull out body lines, show motion, etc. When you have a black car with black wheels, there is a 99% chance that you put aftermarket wheels/accessories on the car, and can make it stand out in less-than-favorable ways.

Who cares what others think? If you like it go for it. The only problem for me with black on black is that you start to lose all the details of the car lines, wheel shape etc. I'm also not much on tinting the headlights and tail lights. You could also split the difference and go with a dark grey rim.

I'm not a fan of blacked out M's...as noted by other memebers, it takes away detailed lines of the car. If it were me (I have the Jerez black), I would go with the BBS LM's in bright silver with the machined lip on my beast if I were to go with aftermarket wheels.

Black on black is sick. It's mean. Anyone telling you what does and doesn't look good on your car is personal opinion. Wheel color doesn't change body lines.

I prefer a little bit more subtle look on cars and I think the blacked out look is a little too heavy handed. I also agree that it lacks visual interest compared to a black car on a nice set of tasteful aftermarket (or stock) wheels.

On top of that, and this is just silly, but I think the term "murdered out" sounds ridiculous and no one over the age of 19 can say it without sounding ridiculous.

Never been a fan personally. Then again, I'm in love with Black with Gold wheels.

I remember for a peroid of time late last year, people were starting to say they hated the storm trooper and the murdered out look as it was overdone by the initial set of guys with 2008/2009 models....

it's up to you man, it's your car, you have to live with it.

i think it's always the execution. I hate those cheaply tinted lights on a car and spray painted wheels. EXECUTION is the key here and if done right it looks LEGIT.

i have a blacked out SUV and I get a lot of compliments. (Maybe they are lying about it).

After looking at numerous setups i decided to go with TE37SLs. Murdered out look is sexy and will prob be my next setup.

What's not to like? It's a very nice set-up, all black everything.

I think what will get most people is the loss of appeal after time, this is why my summer rims are going to be Titanium FI's and winter will be these same A7 rims, nothing special but they get the job done.

DO NOT EVER TINT THE TAIL LIGHTS, that's what kills it IMO.

I have a JB M3 with Gloss Black wheels for Winter Setup. I get many compliments on it especially the wheels. If it is what you want go do it. The only item left for me is to get the trim wrapped as I dont think the chrome (covertible) goes well on black at all.
