MFest stands for Motorsport Festival... M Cars, and non-M-Cars are all welcome. It's a full weekend event that generally takes places in the month of April in Las Vegas.
we arrange caravans that meet converge together in Barstow coming from LA, SF, Seattle, Florida, Chicago, New York etc. People fly-in from London, CHina, SIngapore, Hawaii, Philippines etc. We just spend the weekend enjoying cars... enjoying the folks that drive these cars and enjoying being around eachother in America's Playground. well that's how i sum it up on short notice. haha any other questions you can ask me, Golfrr or anyone else that has been before. in short... is it like Bimmerfest? no, i don't think so.

Only way I'm affording it is by making cuts elsewhere...no vacations, no trips

you complain about the distance but then again you drive 100+mi almost every weekend to go tracking. Sure, driving out to Vegas just to go tracking may not seem like a big deal to someone like you who goes tracking almost every weekend if not every other weekend. But for those of us that have experienced MFest, can't get enough BECAUSE we know it's more than driving long distances, going track and hanging with the guys... it's so much more then that and to be honest, i can't even find the right words to express how i feel about MFest itself. to be completely honest... what really bugs me is when people judge or say "negative" things about MFest and they haven't experienced it except for pictures on the internet or a video on youtube. i'll end my rant here.

I do think some people are turned away because of the price. If you factor in the entrance fee, gas, hotel, food/shopping, tracking, etc... The event can easily turn into a 1k trip per person which is a lot of money (though MFest has a lot to offer). I don't think MFest is for everybody. That doesn't mean it isn't a great event, just a bit much for some people to manage. .02 |

I can't believe it, but I might actually buy a CD. It's been about 10 years since I've bought a CD lol.
I can't find it for DL and Amazon has it for about $12.... hmm Edit: Bought the CD :woot: Last edited by WesleyC; 02-15-2012 at 01:06 AM.. |

I agree, MFest isn't for everybody. But it's geared towards the community of enthuiasts, or at least thats the effort. If there's a particular event within MFest you don't like... don't attend it. But if there is an angle you might like to check out whether it's the show, the drag race, the track event, cars n coffee, meeting other enthusiasts, clubbing, or the caravan (probably the BEST part of everything besides being around good people for the whole weekend). And yes, i agree it's a lot to take on in one weekend but there's no rule that you need to attend all the events.

But there are different priorities for different people If the costs of Mfest was mainly the entrance fee and track fees, I'd have 0 issue going. But as Wes stated, when you factor in hotel, food, clubbing drinks, it really does add up. Yes, you don't have to spend $ on this or that, but then I'd be half-assing it. When you do something, do it right Hence why I said that, the way I'm affording to go tracking is by cutting out vacations and trips lol. Cause I'd have to pay for Hannah too if I go Remember lol, I'm a numbers person. I tend to run things based on proportions and value this value that etc. Like for Vday, I didn't deem it worth spending more money on the same the same meal (restaurants charge extra tonight), so I told Hannah i'd take her to dinner a different night. We stayed in and simply exchanged some practical presents.. Yeah I'm not the romantic type hah. Some will call me cheap, but I just say I'm different... I may be able to attend Mfest, we'll see. I've always wanted to go. It's times like this I do wish my car was bought and not leased. I even limit my driving around town with the M cause of mileage . Though the Z4 isn't a bad substitute lol

I really want a Porsche 993. I think Porsche really nailed it with that model. The 964 was whatever and the 996 was a bust, but the 993 is a timeless beauty. Too bad they are so expensive. A non-Turbo model in good condition is still 40-50k minimum. :O
