Seat Memory and Key Memory Problem

Is the seat supposed to move into place based on the key being used? I thought it was but mine doesn't. If I move the seat out of place and lock the car, when I unlock it, the seat doesn't move. If I then press and hold the "1" button it will work? Is this how it's supposed to work?

If you use the buttons on the bottom of the seat to move it then it will not automatically go back to the key setting when the key is put in the dash key slot. However, if you use the forward/back buttons on the top/side of the seat then it will.
