Porsche Cayman not the car is aught to be

I've been thinking about the porsche cayman, and it is no secret that if porsche didn't deliberately gimp the cayman it would be a superior car to the 911. I'm not saying it isn't a good car, it is great. But it could be much much more.

My question is how exactly is the cayman weakened so that it wouldn't triumph over the 911? Is it the engine? Has anybody tried to do anything about it in terms of modding?

For those who are curious..i guess car mags get the best times, pdk/dct transmissions are pretty easily replicable.

If you are comparing 0-60 times when looking at a cayman you are looking at the wrong car. It's no slouch but neither is it an AMG or Mustang

Low 4's to 60 and a mid-12 1/4 mile is plenty fast if you ask me.
